Speeds dropping off

I remember on the old Kazzaa, if you were downloading from 10 clients, when you finished with one of the ten you were downloading from you could click on "find more users" to keep the download speed increased.

It appears to me that with Limewire, the speed drops off considerably as time goes on. I start off downloading at 50 kbps from 10 users, as time goes on I am at 9 kbps with 10 users. Is there a way to fix this? I purchased Limewire Pro (not sure why).

Run your search again and do that every once in awhile until
the file is finished. New sources are popping up all the time, but
you have to keep searching to be sure you have hit them all..

I think there has to be something else involved. Such as some sort of block from my isp to limewire. I am downloading from 10 sources (shows 24 available) and am getting 10 kbps. Is there a cap at 10 on the amount of hosts (not files) one can download from at a time? These speeds are awful.

I'll have to check how many you can get.
I'm using BearShare and can get up to 50.

Yeah with Pro you are capped at 10, with the standard version it is 8.

I am starting to suspect that the newer versions of limewire are not as good at picking the fastest available host, and seems to stick more with those it found initially. I have noticed since moving to the 4.10.## series I often get maximum number of hosts with quit low aggregate download speeds. It was rare to not get my maximum available download speed with older versions (only 50k in my case) when there were a bunch of hosts listed.

So....
I paid $18 to get a whopping 8kbps faster transfer rate from the additional 2 people I am downloading from? Are there any other benefits?

Well the pro version is not nagware!:D

Its only a few bucks to support the development team. I paid for my pro quite a while ago, did not bother "extending" just use the free version these days, I figure I haver made my contribution.

Actually come to think of it, I hardly open limewire now, mostly use Frostwire.
