Down load speed

I have dsl that runs at 768kbs on on my computer but I am only down loading at tops 50 kbs can somebody please tell me why?
And I guess I have another question does limewire pro really speed up the down load speeds?

On Limewire my download bandwidth I have it set at 100%, I move it down to 2 kps let it sit for a couple seconds then move it back to 100%, my download kps jumps all the way to the highest I seen 180 then goes back down to the 50kps range can sombody tell me why it drops back down to that speed?

Check that it's not an issue with your ISP.

I too wonder whats going on.I get speeds up over 700KB's in most downloads, you're lucky,I cannot get better than 25kb's on limewire.I paid for Pro version in the belief it would increase speed, absolutely no difference, still as slow as before. So no,Pro does not seem to be worth it.

The upload speed for limewire I am now wondering about....
If I am down loading something from limewire and the person I am downloading it from has their upload speed set low, will this slow down my download speed.... Would the best thing to do is chat with the host and ask them to speed up their upload speed if they are not downloading anything?

The host may just have a slow speed, they might have too many upload slots open, their LW just might not be set up for optimum performance... there are a few factors that come into it.

Is your LW set up to work at it's best? There are some good tips here

You could always try chatting but remember... you've gotta have chat enabled too & it's not very reliable at the best of times:D

It seems like the more hosts I down load from the more Kbs I get, but with basic LimeWire I can only download from the max 8 hosts, can I download from more hosts with LimeWire pro?

Yep! Pro will let you download from 10 hosts.

So Birdy LimeWire pro is a little better?

birdy March 4th, 2006 05:31 PM

Well, Pro connects you to 5 ultrapeers whereas Basic connects to 3. Plus, as I said you can download from more hosts. So theoretically you get better search results, better speed & a "turbocharged" connection.

What you should do is search (top right, between faq & home) for other threads about this. You'll find heaps of different opinions & it might help you decide whether to go for Pro.

Just remember though, if you've got a slow connection, Pro's not going to be able to magically fix it:)

I have 768 download and 128 upload to some this would be slow but to others fast, at 50-70 Kb/s on LimeWire I guess this is good cause some people is only getting 1-2 10- 20 Kb/s..... I think I will get pro them two extra people might help.... Thanks...
