help the newbie

I downloaded a movie (the full version) and started playing it and 8 minutes into the movie it just stopped what the h*ll do i do

Get VLC - (click on link) _ (choose nearest mirror site) as it has in-built codecs & is generally very reliable.

Else, get yourself more codecs probably is the issue. CODECs list and alternate players for Movies
