downloading trouble

alright i started download a few movies here and there and all of a sudden my download speed would not go above 6kbs per second. Which makes me very unhappy, ive redownloaded the whole progam and its still the same, i have no fire wall and the connection is good. Searched everything i can think of to try and find the problem. I just want my good download speed back, anyone have any ideas on what would be causing this?

You're a bit limited by the host you're downloading from & their connecton/speed.

Here are some tips on how to configure LW for best performance

some info on slow downloads

Check that your ISP hasn't started limiting p2p?

i dont think im being limited by the host, because it will do it no matter who i download from

Did you check with your ISP?

i've tried to delete limewire and redownload it but the sameproblem keeps happening

is there any way this can be prevented from happening in the future

Are you sure it's not a simple license issue?

If LW won't let you download anything, it's usually this or maybe your maximum downloads are set at zero (tools > options > downloads, change number & apply).

:)

i just did what you and the other person said to do and there still not working

Ok, explain your problem in a bit more detail. Has LW just started doing this, or have you never been able to download? Is LW fully connected? Are you firewalled? Have you changed any hardware lately? I don't think there's any problem with ISPs here (yet), so it's not likely to be that.

What's your set up?

OS(Win XP etc)
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see)
Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP
Connection type (DSL etc)
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Is this your first try with LW

ok well, at the beginging of this year lw wouldn't let me download for some reason, i would click what i wanted to download and then it wouldn't download, my brotheres have been trying to fix it but couldn't for some reason so they stoped trying just recently they said to look on the limewire site for help but it didn't help so i came here(linked from the limewire sight)

im using
windows xp,
lw 4.10.9
java 1.5.0_03
model microsoft windoes millenium ed.
Conection wireless
Firewalls Windows firewalls
conection home
sharing yes with my family(LW works for them)

i started useing LW at the begining of last year and it recently started acting like this(not downloading)

When you click on a file to download, does it just do nothing at all or does it go down into the download pane & then not connect for download?

Have a look at this thread & follow LOTR's advice (you can forget about the "license agreement" link as you've already tried that).
