no search

hey everyone

i tried to to alittle reading on here but i can seem to find what the problem is
i while back i had limewire basic and i think i download a virus or something in that nature

soo i would try to do a search on limewire and where the search results would come up would just be blank..no tab or anything pop up

soo i figured i would buy limewire pro and hopefully it would fix that
but nope it still does it..and now i'm sitting here with a new program i just paid for and cant even download anything

has anyone had any problems like this?

It sounds like an isp filtering problem.

May I ask which ISP you use?

Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW? See sample image below to see what I mean.

Do you get all green bars when connecting? See 2nd image below & tell us what you get when trying to connect.

Let's try an experiment by using a magnet link; choose a file from here to downld & explain in detail what happens & what speeds you get: http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml

That's definitely extremely bad news & evidence your isp is filtering. The 'no search results' was so obvious ... but I had to verify it. Do you have alternate isp options? If yes, threaten your isp with the option of changing unless they stop p2p filtering you or else you'll change isp as will a large group of your friends.

Just in case they're only filtering LW, you could try FrostWire or better for this experiment, try Bearshare Lite: http://www.filehippo.com/download_bearshare_lite/

If the same problem then you know definitely they're filtering at full strength against p2p.

The only other options I can think of are proxies which are a tough act to get going properly. See both 1. A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire pages 1 - 3 which have links to alternative instructions. Apparently Tor is suppose to be a good proxy if you get lucky with a good one. or 2. Throttled ISP answer? Which has worked well with OOL which has done something similar.

3. Change your listening port to one between 49152 - 65535 thru LW's menu, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls.

well all my other people in the barracks that i live in seem to have been working fine with LW

soo i doubt there is some time of fliter
and it did work before i downloads the virus or some type of spyware/adware

and now it wont let me do anything

i put a pic up soo you can see what it looks like
