Limewire's acting illogically. so, i live in the UK, and i'm trying to download a video file i type "video-file-name" into the box and i get about 387 results, 231 of which are for the same file, a four-star file of 348.MB so, 231 sources, many of them at high-speeds. sounds like it would download fast eh? but it doesn't. it will download from 10 hosts at about 60-70KB (bytes) for about 2 minutes, after which it just goes to about 6 hosts at 5-6KB/s so, i repeat the search, again, finding ~250 sources for the same file (as indicated by the "downloading" icon) by Limewire still doesn't download from more sources, or from faster sources. so, is there some sort of problem with limewire, do you think it could be my connection (BT openworld Business Unlimited £29.99/month 2Mb) being "shaped" as you guys call it? i'm sure my PC's up to spec, P4 (northwood) 3.4GHz (not OC'd) 1GB DDR400 and a 6800GT. oh, and it's definitely not HDD space thats the issue (90GB free at least) Anyway, all help will be appreciated. |

Please don't mention downloading of copyrighted material, it's against the forum rules. Could you edit your post please?;) Try downloading a file from here & see what speed you get http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml It does sound like traffic shaping but I can't find any info to say that BT are definitely doing this. Have you called them & asked (they might not tell you but then again...)? Some UK providers are only doing this during certain hours. I'd say you need to call BT. |
