Hi mariacarina43,

In the end, none of the recommendations listed either in this forum or at the Limewire forum were of any help to me, including a detailed email from the support tech's at Limewire.

I basically just scrubbed my o/s installation, reinstalled, updated to latest version of the Java runtime environment and then installed Limewire 4.18.3 from scratch. After all of this (a lot of work reinstalling all of my app's and utilities), Limewire then worked properly and has to this time.

Don't really know what went wrong as none of my other app's (including those written with Java in mind) displayed any kind of problem, and for that matter, neither did the earlier version of Limewire? I use Limewire a lot so it was important for me to get it going again, hence the 'clean install' of the o/s.

Maybe someone with a professional I.T. qualification can shed some light on what might have been happening. You may have to grit your teeth and do the same thing I did.... In the end it was the only thing that worked.

Cheers mariacarina43,
Dimal.

Dear Dimal,
Your car window got stuck: doesn't go up and doesn't come down.
So you decided, after much pondering, that you will open the engine and take it appart, also the transmission gears, all the electric wires, the seats inside, take down the doors, open them up and after 4 days of work you reassembled the 1200 parts of your car. Now the window works fine.
That's exactly what you did with LW.
If the answer of LW technical support wasn't satisfactory, you keep pounding on them until your problem is solved.
A shame of the waisted time and efforts, theirs and yours.

With this patch would you notice a difference with a cable modem about 8mbps?

1,000 megabits per second or 1,000,000 kilobits per second or 1,000,000,000 bits per second. But your speed (12,374 kbps) would be 0.012374 Gbps. Or have I miscalculated. Very nice speed all the same. I wish ...

No you haven't miscalculated I said a person would have to have a very fast connection in order for the hack to make a difference. I myself have a very fast connection for a home user but it doesn't appear to make any difference weather I use the patch or not.

I am having problems downloading. I bought pro to download faster, but it is just the same, and I could have saved my money. Can anyone tell me why I am having these problems? I cannot even get a skin to download.

Hi -

I was about to purchase Limewire Pro, but went ahead and did some research and ran into these message boards. I see that you bought pro back in November and didn't see much of a change. Anything new since then?

Also - I have a desktop and a laptop, do I have to purchase Limewire Pro twice for both computers, or can install Pro on both after one payment?
