Default Problems viewing movies

Hey, how's everyone doing?
I'm having some trouble with LimeWire recently, just starting last night actually. I can successfully download movies. But, for whatever reason now I can't get any of them to load into a media player (I personally use Windows Media Player), not even completed downloads. Before I could preview incomplete files or launch completed files with a double click of the title or a press of the launch/preview button.

Nothing seems to work now. Any advice? I even uninstalled and reinstalled LimeWire.

Thanks!

As an update, the same applies for songs. I can complete a download, but not launch them.

The first thing that comes to my mind is to use the free VLC media player. It has built-in codecs and can play almost all files. Make it to your default player.

In LW go Tools>Options>Player and untick the "Use LW media player".

That might fix it....

Well, thanks for your help, but that's not it, the box isn't checked.

This may have to deal with problems beyond LW now but when I go through the backdoor to get to the files it says it can't--it needs to find the program that was used to create the file? For an MP3?

I don't really understand what's going on.
