Limewire keeps going to Napster website Hi, I have been using limewire for ages without any problems until this week when each time I click on a song to download it won't work and the Napster website comes up. Anyone else had this problem?? Would really love some help. Thanks |
Same here...lower source items come up like normal, but wont download?? What is going on?? |
Did you search the word Napster on the forum? If you did, you'd already have your answer. Forum Rules (click here) |
Same Problem I have been having the same problem, I searched for a song and napster came up. How can i get rid of it |
Cliff notes version...download V4.12.3 and that will take care of Napster... |
I DID download V4.12.3 and it is still doing the Napster pop up thing. Tne Napster hack must have been altered to work with the new version of Limewire. |
Yeah, I just subscribed to these forums, and I just realized that this is happening to me too. I don't really know much about computers, but this is really frustrating. It happens when I want to download a video. Music works, the napster only pops up when I'm downloading a video. |
Paradise, did you download the latest version (4.12.3)? If not, you can download it here http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml (dpwirth sorry but I don't know why you're still getting the Napster crap, someone else might??) Before downloading a video file, look it up with Bitzi. If the file's been rated then you'll get an idea of quality & content;) How to use Bitzi |

Also, control-Alt-del & open process manager & see how many times LimeWire is listed. |
Yes it is v4.12.3 and LimeWire is only listed once. I will try to delete the preferences. |
What version of Java do you have? The newest versions of LW should only run with Java 1.5 due to security issues with Java 1.4 (& perhaps some other limitations) So make sure you have Java 1.5 |
How do I know what version of java im using? I am using Limewire Pro 4.11.0 on this computer. But I am going to update later. |
One way is to go to the LW menu bar, choose Help menu, then About LW & that will show which specific LW & Java version is being used. If you run a bug report to view, you will see such details at the top of the report. |
Deleting the preferences seems to have worked. They were in the C:/Documents And Settings/your_username/.limewire folder. Now they have appeared in the C:/Documents and Settings/*yourusername*/Application Data/limewire folder. Thanks for the help! |
