cant download and having no luck

ive read on here a couple of times about ppl that can connect but then cant connect to the file they r downloading and i am having the same problem but none of the replies thus far have helped me at all. i try to download a file and it just says connecting then it eventually says more sources needed. ive tryed a TON of times to get it to work but it wont plus i still have the annoying brick wall symbol in front of the globe and it wont go away even with windows firewall turned off. i need help im quite frustrated by this and im almost gogint to quit messing with it. somebody PLEASE help me fix this issue!!!!!!

It sounds like you're trying to connect to fake files, they're pretty common if you're searching for new releases & really popular files. Do the files you're trying to download have heaps of sources (up to 100)?? Stay right away from these, go for a file with 10 sources or less. Vary your search terms, try the All Types search & search at different times of day, when hosts in other time zones are online.

For your firewall, read through this
Connection problems? Check here first!
Don't turn your software firewall off, just configure it to allow LW access. If you have a high speed modem/router, it probably has it's own internal firewall. You'll find heaps of info about using UPnP & port forwarding to overcome firewall problems in the thread above;) If you're stuck, post your details

OS(Win XP etc)
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see)
Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP
Connection type (DSL etc)
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Is this your first try with LW

Your download speed depends on how many sources you're downloading from & their speed, as well as your speed. If you download from 1 modem source it's going to be slow. Also depends on how well you have your LW set up & whether your ISP shapes your bandwidth for p2p. Who is your ISP?

Do a speed test here

Download a file from here & see what speed you get
