Hits are many/uploads say 0

I have downloaded a CD to share and when I go under shared files the songs have a lot of 'hits' but the column that says uploads still says 0. Does this mean that people are trying to download and cannot? How do I convert the songs to wav or mp3? Thanks from a newbie. RaeRae

Codex

You need to download a codex or DVX player to play the video portion of your downloads. I had this problem earlier when I was getting rid of things on my computer and deleted the DVX player by mistake. I had to download it again. I hope this helps. I'm new to this but that's one I knew. Thanks! RaeRae

Hi RaeRae,

Hits is the number of times your file has shown up in some elses search results. Uploads shows the completed uploads / attempts. Unless your firewalled your files should be available for upload. Could be nobody has tried to get them.

To convert a file you will need a program to do it with. You could try this one here: SUPER v2006 Build 19

Or try this site: http://www.videohelp.com/. It has links to everything but looks a little intimidating.

Hope this helps:)

Edit: Oops got my threads mixed up:o.If you didn't see it, then never mind:D

I'm firewalled

Yes, my computer came with a firewall. I will try the programs you recommmend. Other things that I have downloaded from others people are accessing. I see it in the monitor. So if it would be my firewall they wouldn't be able to acess anything or just what I have personally downloaded to share? You didn't answer the wrong thread I don't think. I asked for help and this person asked me for help instead of giving me some. But I didn't fuss at them for it because I did the same thing before I knew it was called highjacking. I'm still learning so if I make any social mistakes just let me know. thanks so much for your help. RaeRae

If your able to download then you can leave things the way they are. You don't have to change anything. Sometimes even with a firewall people can still upload from you. You just won't get as many as you would if you have them configured for limewire.

Does LW show that you have a firewall? Check the icon of the globe in the lower left in LW. Is there a brick wall in front of it? If there is, that means you have a firewall blocking LW and you'll need to configure it.

See these threads:
FIREWALL ISSUES
Connection problems? Check here first!.

If you run into problems, post back with some info about your set up and we'll try to help.

OS(Win XP etc)
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see)
Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP(Internet Service Provider)
Connection type (DSL etc)
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Is this your first try with LW

Ok Need more help with Super v2006

Ok I appreciate all of your help. I printed out the steps to configure my firewall and got that done. I downloaded Super v2006 Build 19 and it may be easy software for someone who knows what they are doing but I'm still new at these things. I got my songs on it by click and drag but when I try to encode them it says invalid next to them. I chose MP3 as the output. They are currently in wma. I don't know which frequency, channel or bitrate to use. Please honor me with some more of your knowledge! Thanks! RaeRae

I don't know. I've only converted 1 video file from wma to avi:o. Trial and error is how I did it. Maybe someone else has some advice.

edit:I meant wmv:D

There are various programs that can convert from wma to other formats such as wav or burn. One is iTunes. But converting to wav before converting to any other format is always the best!!! ;)
