Why can't I download video files?

I got limewire 4.12.3 a couple of days ago, and it was working fine until yesterday. I can download song files, and anything else, just fine, but whenever I try to download a film file of any media (mpg, avi, etc.) I can't. Even if can se that it's available in the search, I'm told that the file couldn't be downloaded, or that there weren't enough sources.

What can have caused this problem, as it just suddenly appeared? I haven't upgraded my firewall (which I've set so that it doesn't cover LimeWire), or done anything else to my computer. Please help!

Beware of search results that show 100 or one, 99 for the next etc. Those are fake files & you will never downld them. This is happening to the most popular copyright files. Instead, choose those with 10 or 20 sources from the # column in the search results. ;)

I normally try those with only a couple of sources, or even one, but it doesn't matter. No matter what kind of video file from any number of sources I can't download it. Thanks, though!

Make sure you do a bitzi lookup to be sure it's a genuine file & to see if there's been user reports about it. How to use Bitzi Web Lookup

Persistance helps also, keep searching for sources. Also, cancel from downld window & re-select from search results can sometimes get it going.

FPST,

Try downloading a videp file from here: http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml.

If I'm reading you right, you don't think your limewire is capable of d/ling a video file. Click to d/l a video file from that link, and it will start d/ling in LW. If it says need more sources just right click on it and tell it to find more sources.

If it works, then at least you'll know that you can d/l videos and the advice given by LOTR's is correct.

That works, for some reason. Very odd. Thanks for the link, and I'll try to look a bit more into what LotR said, so thanks to you too!

i have downloaded many AVI files before, but know they will not download.

I have downloaded loads of avi files and other video files, but a few days ago it stopped downloding AVI files. it says connecting for about 10 mins, then it just says need more sources
And i have tried downloading from all kinds of numbers in the # section, but they just refuse to download. Can anyone help  Its doing it on all my computers. but all my friends who have got limewire are not having this problem. Just incase it helps, I am using McAfee security center, and it started doing after it had done a load of updates, but it isnt blocking it. So im really confused, Please HELP. Dont post a new thread, please just email me at - crazyste.co.uk@gmail.com
Thanks.

LimeWire's media search might be corrupted, likely due to incomplete downloads or network fluctuations. Try these: 1. Reconnect to the Gnutella network. 2. Search specifically for complete files to avoid partial downloads. 3. Switch sources for the same video file, aiming for those with high availability. 4. Reinstall LimeWire 4.12.3 to ensure fresh file integrity. If none work, consider alternative file-sharing platforms for video downloads.
