wats a p2p shaper?

hi i was just wondering wat a p2p shaper is and how u can remove it? it decreases ur download speed right? also, i've been told to go to www.magnetmix.com and i dont know wat to do there? can anybody help??

Shaping is something that your ISP(Internet service Provider) can do to limit the use of P2P apps. Don't know if there's a whole lot you can do short of switching ISP's. More info here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ing#post129712

Go to http://www.magnetmix.com/audio2.shtml. Click on one of the files listed and it will download in your limewire. See what your download speed is. If it doesn't download at a decent speed then chances are that your ISP is shaping your connection. Sometimes it takes a little time before the file starts to download, so be patient. Post back with what kind of speeds you get.

ok so i know now wat a p2p shaper is and my download speed was between 10-15 kb/s...how do i remove it or decease its effect??

The 2 options 6_pac gave are basically the only 2 options. Unless you make a loud noise & negotiate with your isp for them to stop their shaping. Stief achieved this by a free try out with another isp & when they found this out, the shaping ceased!
