File with (almost) hundred(s) of hosts are most likely faked files you'll never be able to download. Stay way from them and choose from files with 10-20 hosts. Also use "Look up with Bitzi" (right click the file in the search result, go to Advanced>Look up with Bitzi) before downloading any file, just to make sure that it is really the file you want.

the Fake files problem

i just started having this problem yesterday. the search results show only fake files. ( all have many sources, the size is much smaller than expected) Is there any way around it, or should i hope it will go away as suddenly as it started?
note that up to yesterday i was able to run the same exact search and get normal results.
thanks

Follow FooloftheHill's advice. You'll notice it only happens with copyright files.

I know this happens with copyright files. The question is , how come tihs just started happenning . This now happens for all files i try to download. I find it hard to believe that all of the sudden, in one weekend , all of them truned copyright protected.

Guess, someone got a lot of free time to put up those many faked files.......just take it as another attempt to cause trouble and unease around a P2P network.
Unfortunately, the enemies seem to be back from the WC vacation....;)

Im i the only one who finds these explanations strange?
First, as i said , this now applies to every single search i do, even the most obscure indie rock singers.
There is another thing that is not explained by the fact that these are fake files, and that is the names of the files that are being returned. The best way to explain this will be with an example.
Let's say i'm looking for a movie called "abcd xyz". On a normal search, i will get all the files that have "abcd" AND "xyz" in their name.
In the bad search , i will get all the files that have "abcd" OR "xyz" in their name , and they will all be fake files.
So there is also something wrong in the way the search is done, not only with the files themselves.

I'm not seeing any of it on BearShare at all. Downloads are still fast and fakes are still very rare.
If you have just switched to LimeWire 4.12 try going back to 4.10 for a few more weeks.
