"License Acquisition"

I'll come out and say it: I use Limewire for porn. So sue me. Recnetly, though, (most notably after I put Kazaa on my computer) the videos I download won't load. Windows Media pops up, but then I get this other popup that wants me to "Install Activex control..."

If I could download it, I would, but I can't. How do I get around this **** pop up and get to my videos?

Try a different media player. The free VLC player comes with built in codecs, is reliable, can play almost all media file types and won't ask you for any license:

I've heard of a similar problem before using Kazaa. But takes FOTH's advice.

It might be related to all the spyware, etc. that is incorporated in Kazaa.

I wouldn't download Activex control for a video you get off p2p. Chances are pretty good you d/l some sort of nastie you won't like(virus/spyware/malware ect).

For video I stick with mpeg/mpg or avi. Have a read through this thread: What you should know about WMA Files(and wmv)

The program from
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
didn't do me any good. Wouldn't play the thing, just stayed blank.

Well, that sounds like a faked file or even worse a worm/tojan/virus file. I reckon you check your computer with an up-to-date Av prgram and some Anti-Spy/Maleware program such as :
Spybot - Search & Destroy (FREE)

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

http://www.grisoft.com (free AVG program)

http://www.ewido.com (free trial version still usable and update-able after trial expires -the best on the market)

http://www.ccleaner.com/download/(free -will make your system twice as fast as before

Also look up a file before download with Bitzi, if the file's been rated then you'll get some idea of it's content & quality. If a file's got heaps of sources but no bitzi rating, chances are it's a fake;)
How to use Bitzi
