I've been following your post and it's obvious that something in your system is corrupting your files as they download. However, I have never heard of a PC that virtually damaged eveything it downloaded.

Since you have already used other utilities to check your LW downloads and found them to be invalid or non-existant, I'd like to ask, can you use VLC to preview your downloads before they are complete? That way you will know, or have an idea, at what point your files become corrupt, i.e. before or after they are moved from "Incomplete" to "Complete". That should help to narrow down when the fault actually occurs.

The user informed me via PM that his servere AV configuration had corrupted the files before they were even downloaded. As for now the problem seems to be solved.......finally!!;)

FOTH

Server configuration problem:confused:, I suggest in future we ask new forum users if they are using a server or just a stand alone PC, it is all too easy to make an incorrect assumption when the user neglects to relay all the pertinent information about his/her set up;).

PS. :) Mind you, all these problems add to our understanding of the many ways forum members install and use LW.

That's what I try to tell my students,.....when you make one simple writing mistake you might start the WW III with it....;) :D
Of course I wanted to type "severe" in the meaning of "to strict".......:o :o

But such things happen when your brain is faster than your old fingers.....
Mea culpa, mea culpa.......:o ;) :o

Just curious as to how the AV was corrupting the files. Was it changing the format of the files? Or What ?

foolofthehill August 12th, 2006 11:07 AM

Well, that's what I got told in the PM......
"AHA.. got it

What was happening was my AV's content filter was on just a weeeeeeeeee bit too strong... It deleted whole sectors of the file before they even existed, and therefore, the file was corrupt... ^_^"
This came after I offered the user to download the file to my system and check it by myself......

So his AV was content filtering and removing any script from the file it concider as possibily dangerous. He didn't happen to say what AV he was using did he.

Anything can do to help.

My AV is EZ-Antivirus. comes with RoadRunner. Luckily, turned down my filtering, and now things work great.
