14 hosts, yet 0Kbs/sec?! yes like the title said... even when im connected to like 10-14 hosts, all, yes all, of my downloads are at 0 kbs/sec, like it starts downloading then all of a sudden, all of them starts slowin down and eventually goes to 0kb/sec.. and sometimes it starts downloading, and it is really annoying me cuz i cant pause and start it witout my download percentage going down... and sometimes when i minimize the window then open it up, the limewire window is jus white, and doesnt change, so please if any1 has anyyy solutions for my problems plzzz helppp |
I need to ask a question or 2... Do you see a wall in front of the Globe... Who is your ISP.... :) Attachment 2699 |
You may want to try the .limewire fix also. You can find it in the link below. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420 |
I am also experiencing the same problem as -shukaku-. To answer Wondering Why, no I don't have a wall in front of the globe and I'm sorry but I don't even know what an ISP is. I tried taking Grandpa's advice and went to the link that he provided but was lost after about the first 3 sentences! I would say that I am a bit technologically illiterate but that would be a severe understatement. Is there any way to put all of this into terms that even I can understand? |
It can get very technical... ISP is Internet Service Provider, some of them shape or block P2P... Grandpa was suggesting that you try deleting the limewire preference folder.. LOTR has some screenshots of this in the link that Grandpa provided, so it is explained as easy as possible in that...:) |
Thank you for your help. I'll try that!! |
hey yah.. i dun hav a firewall thing in front of da globe.. so how do i turn it on?.. now that im aware of that i aint downloadin anything until its on T.T |
Can you re-type that so I can understand what you are saying... |
Having the firewall icon showing isn't going to help your downloading!! When you see the firewall icon, it means that somewhere (a software firewall or an internal firewall within a modem or router) a firewall is stopping LW from working at it's best. If you're firewalled then, chances are that other people can't download files from you. It can also effect your connection & so your own downloads suffer. No firewall icon is a good thing;) Try downloading a file from here & see what happens. These files should download pretty fast http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml As WW asked before... who is your ISP? Are you trying to download lots of files at once? Have you tried downloading just one file & does the same thing happen? How good's your connection (ie how many green bars)? (sorry WW I didn't know you were on!) |
Your cool Birdy, I dun undastan em...lol....:D |
ok umm... i think i found a way to get da firewall thing off my globe... so dun wanna explain that... but anyways my isp.. i think its verizon or actually, im not sure... cuz im using wireless and the 1 thats in my house sucked for some reason (only for limewire), so i hooked up to my neighbors, and its pretty fast actually but then all of a sudden these few days, it started droppin. well im downloading like 9 files at once, and no i havent tried downloading 1 to see if same thing happens, and usually id get 3-5 bars, wit 11 mbps (my maximum), and i tried the deleting da limewire folder thing, but ended up redoing da setup (like when it asks u wat language, wher to put file folder, run at setup, that stuff).. but it worked for a while, then after a while, or quit and reopen it did the 0kb/sec thing again |
ok.. i looked at tips and tricks and i think i figured it out, but i need all u smart computer geeks ^.^ (no offense).. to help me figure it out.. ok umm im using wireless so i duno if i speed is t3 or higher.. and so i jus went wit t3 or higher, and i was doin ultrapeer, which im guessing made it worse if my comp cant handle it. but then i did try disabling ultrapeer, and i think i switched my speed to something else, but it still didn work T.T |
Do a speed test (don't have anything else but your browser running) http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?more=1 When you have your speed in KB/s (not kbps), you can work out what your speed should be set to in LW using the guides in the thread below http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showpo...93&postcount=2 |
