Talking Can't download anything.. firewall not the problem

I have always been able to use limewire without a problem. But then, I had to uninstall it for a while. Now, I have reinstalled it. But, I can't download anything. It just says connecting forever. I have a firewall, but everytime I get on Limewire, I shut it down. So that can't be the problem. What could be the problem? Thanks

Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?

Also be aware of this Avoiding fake files & also this License requirement (click on link)

I think I am doing everthing right. I don't see the firewall warning. I also have the license requirement set to ask me... which from what I get, is the good one. I read about the fake files, which sort of sounds like my problem. It suggested to "check the sources." I don't know how to do that. Could that be the problem?

There's the license popup from LW, but some video files have popups (usually wmv or ? windows formats). Those 2nd ones beware because they may send you to a dialler site. For firewall issues you need to consider is it coming from your software firewall or your modem/router's internatl NAT firewall. See how to deal with these issues here Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

As far as fake files go ... sources are the people who are hosting the files. They are listed under the # column of the search results. So if you see 100 under the # column then they may well be fakes. If you see 10 or so, then they may not be fakes. If it's video files you're after, try using Bitzi to see if there's reports about that particular file. For videos see: Movie download issues

No dice, I can't get it to work. I tried one with the source number of 4 and it gave me the same problem... Why is it like this? It wasn't before.. Could it be the version of limewire I am using? I am using the newest one, but before I know I wasn't.. Thanks for looking.

Thanks to lord of the rings for helping me. I have got it figured out. I think the problem was fake files. Thanks for your time and effort!

Default Frusrated!!!

I'd love to know the answer to this. I have the same problem; plus, I can't stop the Norton Security Alert from popping up. I used to be able to use Limewire with no problems.

It's VERY frustrating that we can't communicate with anyone at Limewire to solve the problem. Are they trying to force us to pay for the product?
