Default blocked files question???

I'm new to sharing files. I was downloading a file and my computer started acting weard and I paniced, so I blocked everything from being uploaded. It took me a couple days to correct the problem. I noticed I couldn't hardly download anything. I read the Q&A and I'm assuming people have blocked me from downloading from them. I unblocked everything but the download problem still exists. How do I correct that if that is the case?

What is the download problem? Will nothing download anymore? Try & explain exactly what's going on.

That option to block freeloaders is so iffy... I'm not sure that it even works at all. So I doubt you'd be suffering because users are blocking you!

Well, I start downloading a video file and it starts extremely slow and then stops. Now I attempt to resume and it never starts. I can click on a new file that is the same subject and it starts downloading.

Does a new search kickstart the original download, or do you always end up having to start downloading a new file?

Are you resuming the download from the download pane or from the incomplete folder? Have you tried clearing the download from the download pane, then going library > incomplete files & resuming it from there? Does that make any difference?

Do you see the firewall icon (brick wall)? How many connection bars do you see?
What are your details?

OS(Win XP etc)
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see)
Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP
Connection type (DSL etc)
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Is this your first try with LW
