What else could it be?!

:bangh: Hi I'm a new member but I've been a limewire user for a long time. My specs are Windows XP, Norton Antivirus 2006, Latest spysweeper. Toshiba laptop, windows firewall is OFF. My problem is downloading and searching I guess. When I was at home I used a wireless LAN on this same machine and limewire was perfect!! My downloads never took more than 3 min a piece and it connected fast. I'm now at college at an apartment complex using a wired LAN. My roomate has a desktop and he is downloading just fine. He has the same specs as far a OS but a little different virus software. Someone please give me some ideas of what it may be I'm going crazy not being able to download. Limewire connects but it's very slow. I will have all green bars but when I download something the connection starts dropping and they take 2-3 hours. It's got to be something small that I'm just overlooking. Thanks for any help guys.

You could try to delete the previous settings for gnutella/limewire in Norton, & to reconfigure Norton again.

Ha I'm sorry I didn't put that in my first post but I did try that several times and no luck. I have Norton configured to permit all as far as limewire is concerned. Thanks though man.

Hey thanks for that. I hadn't tried it before but I did now. I updated the java and deleted the preferences folder like it described. I don't think I missed any steps or anything but still no luck. It's like it will have full green bars and the globe will show but then when I start downloading a file the green bars drop and the download is super slow.

Is your college (or LAN provider) using it's own firewall?

Well I thought about that but the other two guys that are in the same apartment with me have no problem with limewire.

Do you have any on-guard spyware/maleware or any other program possibly slowing down your incoming file transferes??

I have Norton 2006 that stays on gaurd and spysweeper. I tried turning both of them off and still no luck
