i DL a song, and only repeats the 1st five seconds of it for like 4minutes straight.

im new at this so if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. well i recently upgraded to windows xp, and installed limewire, before i had windows me and limewire and everything was fine, now when i download a song and play it, it only repeats the first 5 seconds of the song and it does that through out the whole 3 or 4 minutes of the song that i downloaded. and most of the time i also get a popup that its corrupted before it finishes downloading. im not very familair with firewalls and all that stuff. so if anybody can help me out i would really appreciate that. :bangh:

Are you using the LW player? Disable it (tools > options > player) &
try playing the songs with VLC player or Winamp & see what happens.

Otherwise, they're possible bad files. Check out the thread below

That's ok, I just marked them as a double post so that someone else doesn't think you're still waiting for a reply.
A mod will possible delete the other ones. If not, don't worry about it;)

Do you know if the internet connection, provided for your apartment complex, is filtered in anyway?

For example, does your internet provider offer anti-virus and or firewall filtering?

If you don't know it is best to ask.

i just got off the phone with the technical support and they said they do have programs like this blocked cause its a risk of security, but he said there was a way around it if i set the ports to limewire to 80, i did that and still doin the samething. is there any way around this?

Security risk? :whisper:

You guys must keep state or national secrets in your apartments :whisper2:

Seriously though, the only way around it is to get another ISP but, as forum members in the same predicament as you have said, that would probably violate your tenancy agreement.

Sorry.
