Download Speed Problems
 

:confused: I have a cable connection set up on a wireless network and can't seem to keep a consistent connection. I also can't download any faster than maybe 3 KB/second at best. This happened all of a sudden. Please Help!!!!

Try an experiment, try downloading a magnet link from here http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml & tell us what happens. What speeds do you get?

I've a horrible suspicion your problem might be due to ISP bandwidth shaping against LimeWire or p2p programs. That's often the reason for sudden drops in performance.

HI, i still get 2kb/s.. i have a cable connection,1.5Mbps ... i'm not sure how to count the KB/s thing.. can u teach me the method to count. so that i will know how to drag the download bar

You can do a speed test & if your speed is measured in kb/s, divide by 8 to get KB/s (which is how you'll see download speed measured in LW)

If those magnet link files downloaded at 2kb/s (maybe you mean KB/s), something's wrong somewhere. Those should download quickly. Follow the connection problems link in LOTR's post & give us your details (you'll see the info we need)...might be interesting to see who your ISP is! Have you used other p2p apps & if so, did you get the same slow download speeds?

How many green connection bars do you have & do you see the firewall icon (brick wall)?
