d/ls painfully slow

How do,

I've got a 2.2Mb connection with Tiscali and a fully loaded new laptop. Yesterday I was able to d/l several files at about 700Mb each, download speed was at about 150KB/s.

Today, it's sturggling to get above 40KB/s.

Is there a major problem with the network?

It's your ISP...Tiscali is known to block p2p at certain times of the day...
This thread has some good info about it...:rolleyes_2:

Oh my god...thanks....Christ...I had no idea about this. F***ING HELL!

I'm in the UK, are there any ISP's that don't block P2P programs?

Jesus, they don't mention this in the adverts, *******s.

Uk Bob has mentioned NTL and Bulldog.

If I recall I'm sure he ended up going with Bulldog and has had no problems...:rolleyes_2:

Hi Wondering Why

Just got your PM, not sure why it just appeared because I always check if I've been PM'd.

WW has asked me to pass on some advice about ISPs in the UK, please note that as far as I am aware there are only two ISPs that do not, at the moment, use anti-P2P measures on the their network.

Like WW said before, those two ISPs are NTL and Bulldog.

However, you said that you can't get cable so that means NTL is out but you could try this Bulldog URL:

https://secure.bulldogbroadband.com/...archtype=telno

Put your phone number, post code and house number in the required fields and find out if your area is covered.
