![]() I am having a problem. I am connected and I am uploading to other users. I can't seem to get through the "need more sources" state for downloads. I was using an older version of LimeWire and this started happening. I decided to upgrade to PRO. I upgraded and I am still having the same problem. I deleted the software and all of the folders and reinstalled the software. Still the same problem. I pass the connectivity test. I have an HP computer running Windows XP Media Center edition. I have 2 gig of ram, 300Gig HD with plenty of room and an Intel 3.12 Ghz dual core processor. I am running Norton Internet Security 2005 and have allowed LW access on all ports. I have automatic updates from HP, Norton and Windows running. This seems to make changes to my PC every week or so. I have a cable modem and a LinkSys 4 port router/hub. The router firmware has been updated within the last six months. This change did not affect my earlier version of LimeWire. I have a "Turbo-Charged Connection" indication on the bottom left of my screen in LimeWire. The globe is clean. There is a green circle with 2892 in it just to the right of the globe. I think I have an issue with perhaps a setting in the LW options, but nothing I have tried has made any difference. I have tried downloads from multiple numbers of sources and still no luck. I'm stuck at "Need More Sources". I've been stuck for 5 days now... My only thought is to do a system restore to see if one of the updates has affected the connectivity of LW. Any thoughts??? |

![]() The most obvious thing to think is that you're a victim of the fake files that are throughout the network these days. Do the files you're trying to download get stuck at 'connecting' for ages before going to 'need more sources'? Stay away from files with huge numbers of sources, go for files with 10 sources or less, or even files with a single modem source. Vary your search terms. For music, look for artist or album rather than song title. Also try the All Types search. For video, look up the file before download with Bitzi How to use Bitzi Files with lots of sources but no Bitzi rating are often fakes. You could try deleting LW's preferences folder (when LW's closed). This will kill all your settings within tools > options, you'll have to go back through & reset things afterwards. See points 2 & 3 in the thread below for instructions Fixes for LimeWire Your connection sounds fine - you're turbocharged, not firewalled & other users are uploading! It's a good idea to delete that preferences folder after updating, so see if that makes any difference to things ![]() |

![]() Wow! Apparently just changing to files with 1 or 2 sources seemed to work. I am now downloading at over 190KBPs. I really appreciate the tip! Is this fake file thing something new? I have never encountered this before. I almost always chose files with 50 to 100 sources. It always worked in the past. I have to admit that I have been downloading music video's lately, not too many songs. |

![]() The fakes have been appearing for a while now, they've become really common in the last 6 months or so. It's a PITA. Have a read through LOTR's post below for some more info http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showpo...56&postcount=2 ![]() |
