Check if you have a firewall enabled, because that is usually the case with these types of problems.

foolofthehill September 25th, 2006 11:15 PM

Besides that it could be that the host(s) of the files aren't online at the time you'are trying to connect to them, or have moved, deleted or renamed the file, it could also be that you try to download a file appearing with many hosts (20 up to hundreds), which are most likely faked files you won't ever be able to download.
Try to search files under "All Types", using the artists name rather than a specific file name. If you get results, try to browse the hosts to see whether they offer the file(s) you're interested in.

If you indeed see a small brickwall in front of the globe in the left bottom corner then there might be a firewall issue. Read here on how to configure the firewall properly (connection problems -click first):

Trying to delete the LW prefernce folder might also have an effect on this issue. Read here on how to do this (Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire):

Sorry, not really sure where this should go, but this seems like the place...

I can no longer get past "Connecting..." be it for movies or music. It is connected and I am online (typing this after all). Is there anyway a someone could have changed the setting on me or anything, or am I just pooched?

Perhaps the file you're trying to connect to is a fake one. More about this here Recognising fake files

Those from modem users are usually safe. If you get thousands of results in your search then you can be assured most are fakes. Choose those with just a few sources. When it tries to connect for ages ... that's often a symptom of fake files ... & it eventually goes to need more sources status.

Could be your ISP (Internet Service Provider) shaping your Bandwidth

Who is your ISP? and also

How do you connect? (In Limewire go to Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall Config)
