alright, i have a brandnew macbook and since i got it (about 2 months ago) i have been trying unsuccessfully to use my limewire pro...i may have downloaded 2 songs, maybe, in the whole time of 2 months...i need serious help so im gonna list everything thats buggin my limewire out and hopefully someone can help me!!!

- the brick wall is up
- i have no idea how to set up a port or router or w.e. the hell it's called
- i'm on a college internet connection so i am NOT allowed a static IP address (i checked..) ...that also means i cant mess with the settings a whole lot
- currently my limewire is running at 1 KB/s....yes, that IS the exact number
- i constantly get a gillion pop ups because of some error and have to force quit
- i have noooo idea how the firewall settings work on a mac..im a new mac user and im really inept at using this thing
- because everything on a mac is diff i dont know how to check my norton antivirus firewall setup or w.e.
- i dont even know what type of internet speed im running on..i know its ethernet....what is T1 and T3 anyhow?!?!

well, i cant think of anything else at the moment but i think thats enough for now....PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!! I WANT TO LISTEN TO MUSIC!!!! :bangh:  :imwaiting:

There is a very good chance that your college is shaping Limewire to... exactly 1 KB/s

A lot of colleges do this, and the best way for you to find out if this is the case is ask someone at the school.

Why don't you ask around if some maybe has music that you like allready on their computer. You could use a USB-Memory bird or similar to just tranfer from one computer to another. Or maybe people are sharing on the internal college LAN already.

Just ask around. I'm sure someone else likes to have music on their computer

i guess i could ask around and just take from other peoples but i dont know anyone with a mac...thats my next question: can i, using a flashdisk, transfer files like music files from a pc to my mac???

its a decent solution but i know that other people can download music jsut fine..im not sure if they use limewire but i dont know of any other music download programs available for macs....i used to use bearshare pro and it was fatastic, everyhting downloaded in like 5 seconds so its frustrating having to compromise to listen to w.e. music other ppl have on their comps rather than being able to download w.e. i want, u kno?

well, i appreciate the help anyway :D

one more thing: do you think my school has something to do with that **** brickwall???

I am not a Mac person so I honestly would be guessing here, but I'll check if I can't find someone that can answer your Mac question.

As to your that USB question. I don't see why not

Others will want you to include setup for your computer. I know you are a new Mac user, but there are some things you can find out.

Exact operating system (If you have no idea then just the Name and model of the computer) This will help them to help you set up your firewall.

Limewire version and Java version (In your Limewire go to Help>about Limewire) it says there the versionnumber for both.

Also what exactly does the pop-up you keep getting say?

Any more details that you can think of that might help.

Also try to figure out what programs others are using that work in your college. Especially if anyone can get Limewire to work.
