'Thumbs' file All of a sudden I have a 'Thumbs' file in my Incomplete folder. I didn't have this before. Why is it there all of a sudden? |
Either it's album art, or else, beware. It could be virus related. It won't take too long to get it checked out properly. Register at Norbie's site & follow his instructions; NorbiesWorld (click on link) |
What about art for downloading movies?:(.......This looks like a bad sign. It just appeared today while I was resuming some downloads. So that must mean it came with one of tha files I'm downloading, right? Becuz I haven't downloaded any new files today. Thanks for that link, I'll check it out Quote:

Many months ago, possibly last year I recall one or 2 similar reports about thumbs. They turned out to be due to virus. That's why I suggested being on the cautious side & checking whether they are or aren't ok. You could use the search function of the forums & search for thumbs & see what you come up with. ;) |
Oh really? That sucks...............Yea, I just did a forum search on 'thumbs' and some other people have this problem too. Some people were saying that it is just a normal Windows file that LW users get in their folders becuz lots of people have this. I'm familiar with this 'thumb' file on another area of my computer. Like in folders that have images, but I found out it's normal to have that in there.............I found out that tha 'thumbs' file is invisible in Windows by default, that's why it acts strangely. I've never seen a 'thumbs' file in LW before, that's why it freaked me out...................But like u said, I should be on tha safe side and check out if it's a virus. Quote:

As far as I know, Windows XP (or whatever version) stores icons or pictures in this thumbs.db file but as it's hidden by default, few users seem to know this. I've seen it in torrents and archives where it was unintentionally placed by the creator. Hiding files, filename extensions by default is one of the major design flaws since Windows 95. In all these years Microsoft has learned really absolutely *nothing*. Hiding information is the number one reason why users accidently execute files and aren't aware of otherwise very obvious virus infactions[1]. To add insult to the injury Microsoft has been very successful to make the filemanager ("Explorer") less inefficient, more illogical and bloated with each release of Windows. [1] It's no typo. The world filters here are quite brain-dead and offend any intelligent life-form. |

So what? Just put the forums offline. That prevents all spam effectively and efficiently. Filtering i.e. censoring arbitrary words that are used in spam is so stupid and brain-dead that I really have to wonder what is going on the mind of the person who wrote the filter. That said I'm not surprised, the whole world-wide society is about to go gaga in all kinds of ways. |
