This is INSANE....

Im Seriously tired of this brick wall im getting from all these fake files :bangh: . I now have to search my results 3+ times and weed through which files are real or not. Does anyone know how i can filter out most of these fake files? (at least soothe the problem).

Brick Wall & fake files are 2 different concepts. Brick wall shows if you have a firewall problem. ie: you haven't configured your software firewall to allow LimeWire full access, or your modem/router needs UPnP enabled if it supports it.

Try using Bitzi search to check the file is legitimate. Also, try choosing those with just a few hosts. Modem sources are safe.

definitely use Bitzi...there are a lot of fake file spammers on the network at the moment..and from what I've been noticing, it heavily depends upon which UPs you are connected to as to whether or not you get flooded with fake files in your search results...

as a tip, when you are flooded with fake files in your searches, the results with the lower number of sources are usually the real files...again, use bitzi and depend upon its ratings...

Sorry let me clear it up, my fault, I mean a metaphorical brick wall. One problem when i use bitzi is I almost always get the message saying: "Bitzi has no information about this bitprint" or whatever.

Thanks for the help though >.<

this would most likely mean that it is a fake file...

here's a prime example...I am right in the middle of downing the whole series of a television show...it is rather popular online right now (just having started its 3rd season) and the vast majority of search results (and there are many) have the exact same message re: no info...those are all spammed files of exactly the same name and size of the real file...the real file has a valid bitprint..get The_Point?

Peerless,

I think I'm trying to download the same show but the cylons are keeping me from finding the real files! Please explain how do I differentiate between the fakes and the real one(I've read LOTR advice but still can't do it) - I've tried Bitzi, I've tried dl only those files with small hit etc. The weird thing is that I can normally dl about 10 - 15 % of the file before Limewire abort the download.

Do you know if fake files can do the following:
1/. Harm my computer?
2/. Abort all the other files I'm trying to download?
3/. Causes Limewire to crash?

Appreciate any help anybody can give!

Thanks.

a work around that I found...

I am sure the limewire gurus already know this, but the best work around I've found is to use Bitsi.. backwards.. Make sure you have limewire up, running, connected, etc. then go to bitzi and do a search for the movie you want.. look for the highest rated one (usually a DVD Rip).. then click on it, and scroll down in the search results until you find the file's magnet (tag) and click on it (it should be a hyper link).. it will open up for you in Limewire and attempt to download it.. from there you can search keywords and look for the file to come up that you are already downloading.. you can then search more until you can find multiple users with the file..

Hope it helps.. I was getting really p/o'ed :bangh: with the fake file flooding.. until I figured this out. Now its not a problem at all...

I love you bitsi!!! :yahoo:
