Uploading Movies?

help please? ive never uploaded anything for other people to download, but i was going to try it with a bunch of dvds i have, but when i put them in the share folder, they were all seperate files, (the vob. files and whatnot) so I tried sending them to a rar file, but its HUGE,(2,000,000 KB) and would take forever for people to download (normal ones are usually in the 10 thousands i noticed), so my question is this : is there anyways to compress or make the files one complete file, for an easier download for users?

Most people will convert them to another video format. Such as DivX or MPeg 1, 2, or 4 or avi. I'm sure others will be able to advise & the best ones, etc. & how to go about it.

For me, I convert the VOB's to a QuickTime video file & export/convert that with DivX which does a very good job at compressing but at a reasonable size.

At present I think the maximum sized file capable being shared on the network is around the 4 GB size. Most video files you find on the network are 600-800 MB or split into 2 or 3 at that size each.
