java this, limewire that....HELP! soooo lost! OK I downloaded the basic version of limewire it said that it could not install the java runtime environment and I would have to go to the website and do it on my own. So I did that and it did download. It is on my computer, but when I click on limewire to enter the program the message box pops up and tells me I have to go to the www.java.com website and download it still?????? What am I doing wrong? Thanks |
Go to your Control panel & find Add/Remove Programs & open it. Look for any Java listings & remove them. Then download the "Offline" Java version which is about a 16 MB download. Select "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9 The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications." And the offline installer is the 1st on the list on the actual listings on the 2nd page. Install Java. Then open or install LW. |
L.W. Thanks for your help. Your instructions were very helpful and easy to follow. I did them all and STILL it is telling me that same thing......... Kathleen |
P.S. Should I remove Lime wire like I did the Jave and then install it agian? On my desk top menu I have 2 limewire icons I can click on. One is limewirewin and the second one is Limewire 4.12.6 Thanks again Kathleen |
You should uninstall Limewire. Then install Java, Then reinstall Limewire. Limewirewin is the installer, which you click on to install Limewire. The second Icon is what you normally would click on to open it. I hope this helps, as I'm a tired Mac user:):) |
