There's been an increase in the number of fake files lately, they sit connecting & then show 'need more sources' but won't ever download.
Probably more important that avoiding T1 & T3 is avoiding files with heaps of sources. Go for a file with 10 sources or less, or those with a modem source are usually ok. Now that faster internet is more affordable, more people have a T1 or T3 speed...so lots of these sources are quite ok. Not to say that you can trust every T3, but I've seen plenty of spam/fakes showing with cable/dsl sources.
Always check a file with Bitzi before download. How to use Bitzi
A file with lots of sources but no Bitzi rating is often a fake. Info about fake files
You might also want to add mov to the keyword filter, check the thread below for more info http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ight=mov+files
You can block the IPs of people hosting spam files but in a couple of days, when their IP changes & someone else takes on the original IP...you're banning the wrong person:wink: |
