Can't download anything anymore

Hi,

I've been using LimeWire for over 2 years now, but last week, something weird happened. I entered some keywords, searched for the song, and double-clicked on one of the results.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to download anything anymore. For over 3 hours, LimeWire keeps saying "Connecting (... hosts tried). The "..." is a number indicating how many hosts have failed to respond my download request.

First, I thought it was just the file that is corrupted or something, but this happens to every file I try to download, nothing works on LimeWire anymore.

Can anyone please help me? Thx for everything!

Edit: Finally, LimeWire says "Need more sources".

I seem to be having the same problem, Yesterday morning downloads were operating, but since sometime mid day they all ceased. Connections are fine and I seem to be uploading fine. Any help would be great. Incidently, I tried reloading the exceptions within my firewall based on the port LW is listening to.

Thanks for the wealth of information in the links, I had gone through alot of the information already, and when I reviewed the section on Network settings and the advanced settings, I found the UPnp was not checked. I did as instructed and it seemed like i had one download go active. I attempted a second to find the same situation as before. I get the connecting prompt, then i get a reconnecting in 268s timer and ultimatly i get "need more sources.

I have noticed that i am having no trouble uploading. i see multiple uploads occuring. I do infact have a firewall on the globe but had managed to operate fine for the past few weeks with setting the exceptions. I confirmed today that they are still correct. I would think that they are since the uploading is working right.

I took some earlier advice off the faQ pages which helped me to secure my three ultrapeers quicker and they seem to be quite stable.

I am showing full bars on the bottom left as well.

My searches occur fast.

Yesterday morning it was functioning fine and while making additional selections, I checked my progress on the screen to find all stopped. even though the selections had large numbers next to them.

Im not sure if this is the right thing to do, but should i uninstall the LW software and reinstall or is it better to locate the root of this through the ports.

1. Your problem might also be related to this Fake files in search results

2. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)

wow? im not sure what i did but it seems to have gotten it running again. but something in your suggestions definitly made it work.
I seem to have two issues yet

first: i am still getting a bunch of "need more sources" but i think its related to an abnormally low volume of users listed on the bottom of my window, it tells me i have 94 users, when commonly i see over 3000.

I have tried to disconnect and reconnect in order to gain different ultrapeers, but it remains consistantly low, for some reason im thinking the only selections im getting downloaded are the ones directly off the ultrapeer and not the rest who funnel through.
any suggestions?

I'm not sure what you mean by volume of users listed on bottom of the window. If you're refering to search results, then be wary of several thousand. A high % of those will be spammed fakes. Fake files will spend longer attempting to connect than real files.

I had the same problem while i was using the latest limewire pro beta i think its 4.13.0 but i went back to 4.12.6 and i could download again

It seems to be solved with me now. I shouldn't download anything from the moment I have LimeWire running. Even if it says "Connection: good".

Now I have LimeWire starting up together with my pc. Although it's slowing down the boot time, I can now download everything when I want to. If I wait an hour or so.
