Can you give us a total description of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)?
10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
11. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
12. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
13. Try and download a magnet file from here and see what speed you get for it, then post the result as well:http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml

Do you see a brick wall in front of the small globe in the left bottom corner of the LW Window??

Using windows XP
Windows firewall and Router firewall both of which are open
512 MB Ram
40Gb or hard drive free
On broadband through plusnet
Using linksys wag354g router
connecting from home
using LW 4.12.6 with Java 1.5.0_09
This is a continuous problem used LW for about a year
This is a single computer no LAN
http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ using this i get test worked
The wall in front of the globe comes and goes and also struggle to connect

With the brick wall coming and disappearing I'd suggest that your router has a problem with the UPnP function.
To solve this you'll have to portforwarding in your router. Read here through the instruction on how to do this:

Freaky!!

hey all ive bin searching this forum for sm1 with a problem as unique as mine.
i use limewire and frostwire both. The problem is that my downloads with limewire never exceed 2kBps as i hav Dsl 256 kbps this is extremely slow, even when the limewire is connected with excellent connection and is downloading from more than 4 hosts it still works at 2 kBps.Now for the freaky part my downloads with frost work at the proper speed like 30 kBps
i would love ne suggestions
thanx

You could try to delete the LW preference folder; that might have an effect...
Read here on how to delete this folder (Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire)
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420
Afterwards reboot your computer.

Are you using LW and FW at the same time? And what about the listening pots? Do you use different port numbers or the same for both...??Besides, what LW and FW version do you have?
:Smilywais:

fezj November 27th, 2006 06:58 AM

No they dnt work at the same time and i hav the LW 4.13.0 and FW 4.10.9 beta and i dnt knw abt listening ports maybe thats wats wrong. i connect via speedtouch 585v6 router
thnx for the help

foolofthehill November 27th, 2006 07:04 AM

You can check the listening ports of both by going to LW>Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall Config. And the same way with FW (I think,.....quite some time that I've opened FW).
Since FW works fine, I reckon using the same Port to listen to for LW. Check also whether you have UPnP with both enabled (under the same Firewall Config. function).

still no joy on mine

birdy November 27th, 2006 03:04 PM

shagy,
You're probably going to keep on seeing low speeds if you continue to use Plusnet:wink: It looks like they're throttling p2p. Use the forum search to look for Plusnet, you'll find a few old threads. Also check out the 2 links below

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread....476246&page=21 (see post #309)
http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/SUPfaqs.htm

You could try changing to a higher port (say, 64049) but I honestly don't know if that'll help.

Arg...

Im having a little problem with my limewire... Its been working fine for a little while, and all of a sudden, the download speed has gotten really slow, like between 2kb/s and maybe up to like 9kb/s. ive thought that maybe it was my computer's internet connection or something, but once i looked through everything, its not my connection. its limewire. help!

foolofthehill November 30th, 2006 08:34 PM

You might experience a corruption of the LW preference folder. Try to delete this folder. Read here on how to delete this folder (Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire)
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420
Afterwards reboot your computer.
