Can't get sources, can't download Used to be able to download just fine. Got a couple of files on Tuesday, and all of a sudden couldn't download any more. Haven't been able to download since ... it says connecting forever, then comes back with "not enough sources". 1. OS version? XP Pro 2. What firewalls you have? Norton Internet Security - Limewire has full access 3. How much ram? 2g 4. Hard Disk space available? 190g 5. Connection type? DSL 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Speedstream 7. Where are you trying to connect from ? house 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW 4.12.3, Java 1.5.0_09 9. Who is your ISP provider? Sympatico 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Your test worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. NO 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem, been using Limewire for a little while successfully 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? No The other test (Firewall test?) comes back as true. Sorry, can't remember which one, I've been back and forth through a bunch of "can't download" threads! Speedtest - download 4229 kbps, upload 658 kbps |
Files that sit connecting for ages & then need more sources are usually fake. Have a read through the thread below for more info Fake files showing up in search results Try downloading an old file (not a new release or really popular one)...what happens? Stay away from the files with huge numbers of sources (up to 100). See if you can download something which has around 10 sources...what happens? If absolutely nothing will download at all, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's closed (points 2 & 3 below) & see if that makes any difference. Fixes for LimeWire |
Okay, really weird. I tried many of the suggestions, no luck. Then tried downloading a video, and a program, they were fine. But when trying to download an MP3 I couldn't. Till I tried downloading a file that had only 4 sources and bingo! Never run into this before, that many are "fakes"?! |
