I can't upload or download 0kb upload, 0kb download My firewall is set to accept LimeWire, and so that is not the problem. I have 5 blue bars. I am lost! :shoot: 1. OS version - WIN XP 2. My firewall is the downloaded McAfee from Comcast 3. I have 512 RAM 4. 37.2 GB of hard drive available 5. I have a cablemodem 6. Scientific Atlanta Cablemodem, Model Number DCP 1200 7. I connect from my apartment 8. I have LimeWire Pro 4.12.6 9. My ISP is Comcast 10. I use Firefox, and when I try to go to this page: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ it gives me a message that says "Problem loading page." I tried it with IE 7.0 also. I tested my network connections, and everything is A-OK 11. I'm not sharing the connection with anything else, just LimeWire 12. This is my first try with LimeWire 13. I don't have a brick wall in front of the LimeWire logo, it's all good. Right next to the little blue globe it says "698" and to the left it says "Turbo charged connection" I am at a total loss! I can search for audio files, it just won't allow me to download them  Please help me, I don't know what to do! Thanks so much, MizzBellaBella |
What happens when you try to download a music file? |
I can't download anything Obviously. Didn't you read the headline of my post? |
Does the file name move into the downloads window? If so, does the file say 'connecting' or 'need more sources'? Have you read this? Downloading problems after selecting license requirement option Maybe it's not so obvious what's going on... |
It doesn't say anything. It just sits there. As I have already said, I am able to pull up files, but cannot download them. It's quite simple. Five blue bars, it says Turbo Charged Connection. I mean, maybe I wasn't clear, but i can pull up 1,000's of files of different artists, but it says 0 kbs, and so I cannot upload or download them. And, the site you referred me to, that "Lord of the Rings" posted on? Well, "Lord of the Rings" helped me extensively with another matter, is completely understanding of this one, and guided me through posting on this matter |
Try an experiment, try downloading a magnet link from this site http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml & tell us what happens in regards to connecting & downld speeds, etc. |
Voila!! It let me download that file from that site, and then I tried an experiment. I tried downloading another audio file from a different artist - Mr. James Brown (RIP) it would only allow me to download one song, and that magnet file, even though I have it set to 8 downloads (I'd like 15). But, now that that one song downloaded, I can't download anything else. I now see the number "1" download" and between "144" and "133 kbs for an upload. I still have a turbo-charged connection, with five blue bars. Oops, I typed too soon. Now that the magnet file is downloaded, I am back to 0kbs up and 0kbs down Gggrrrr........................................ :( |
You're confusing me a little with uploads. Do you mean uploading to another user as seen via the Monitor window or speeds at the bottom of LW's interface. OR do you mean your speed downloading a file? Uploading is when you're sending a file, downloading is when you're receiving a file. Send us another personal message & we'll see if we can direct connect with eachother or use magnet links. Ah ... taking a closer look at your port test, you do seem to be blocked from port 6346. Can you go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & tell us what both your connection port & listening ports are. Open internet explorer & type this into your browser 192.168.0.1 & see what happens. If nothing, then type in http://192.168.0.1 & tell us what happens. I'd like to know if you are able to telnet into your connection device. You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default both the username and password are admin. Click the Ok button to log in to your router. |
man yeah i know this doesnt help you but i got the same problem and the other day i had lime wire running. I uninstalled it and everything then i decided to use it again and now it wont download anything, the artist pop up but everytime i click on them it wont download and bring it in to the download box:mad: this really sucks :/ hope ya figure it out so i can get helped too. |
|
Man it worked. Thnx I could say i love you now lol :rolleyes_2: |
OK, when I type 192.168.0.1 a list pops up in IE 7.0, asking me if I want to PING it. There is a whole list with that string of numbers. Then, I decided to type in http://192.168.0.1 and it said that IE cannot find the page, but I ran a connectivity check, nd everything seems ok. I do run SpySweeper, but LimeWire is supposed to be protected, I have no idea what being able to "telnet into your connection device" means. And for the zillionth time - I can connect to LimeWire, It says turbo-charged connection. I can search for as many files as I want to - BUT - it does NOT ALLOW ME to upload or download any!! 0 kbs upload and 0kbs download!! I was able to download one single James Brown tune while I was downloading that scene fromt he magnet site. One tune, and it cut me off. Now it's - Zero. Zilch. Nada. ZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you feeling my pain?? I have downloaded LimeWire Pro, and can search, but cannot download, and no one can upload from me, even though I have FIVE blue BARS; a turbo-charged connection; permission from both SpySweeper and McAfee Firewall!!! Can you hear me now? Is this thing on?? :ranting2: |

That port test page is apparently down. That's why I was confused. If you're using McAffee Firewall then I presume you disabled XP's firewall right? If not, do so. Running 2 software firewalls at one time can cause side effects & actually results in less security not more. Make a note of any important settings you have in Tools>Options, then try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) Upon re-opening LW, under Tools>Options Tools>Options>Saving: days to keep incomplete files = 999 Tools>Options>Downloads: Make sure Maximum Downloads is set to a largish number such as 10 Clear completed downloads. Uploads do the same. Also allow at least a couple of slots for uploads & at least one per person. Enable Chat. Status Bar: Show all. Filters>Content: Disable this option (uncheck). Junk: Display junk at bottom of search results. Keywords: there's many you can add here. But here's some to start with - .exe .jpg .wma .wmv .wm www. Oh ... & set your connection to T3. ;) Be aware of this Beware of Fake files in search results Oberon89 I see you're using a UK ISP. Many UK ISP's shape p2p sharing bandwidth. Try the magnet link above & see what speeds you get. Also see ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire & see if your ISP is listed. And give us some feedback who your ISP is. System details - help us to help you (click on link) |
I have got somewhere...... OK I now know what has been going on our ISP Restricts P2P even on our business line ! apparently p2p is not a business application and so we are not allowed to use it !!!!! This restriction entails data packet analysis which sounds like we watch everything and chock it if it seems to be p2p ?? I wonder if this is why file sharing, and other application may not be working well p2p could be the new "Broadcast medium" so I'm a bit confused as to why p2p is not "busines" related. We have a Business Max package and a 1:1 contention on our line but apparently the policy is part of our ISP's fair use policy so that other users bandwidth is not restricted ??? My question is what other users ???? Could this explain slow line speed ??? Does anyone else know of a business conection where serviuces are restricted ?? please keep in mind we pay over £50 a month for our line. I think I am being taken for a ride but will see what they say before I blow the whistle on them, I have asked for an unrestricted line as one would expect from a business Max package with 1:1 contention...... I'll keep you all posted...... |
Ukbobboy01 is aware of a few UK ISP's who don't as yet shape p2p bandwidth. And yes, the isp's tend to use special programs that detect the bandwidth of p2p programs & then either block them or put them into a 3rd tier speed & thus giving priority to surfing, etc. |

Even Business class 1:1 contention over £50 a month companies ??? |
Oberon89, Don't know if you've read the BT Fair Use Policy... http://www.btbroadbandoffice.com/products/fairusepolicy ...but have you tried using LW outside of 'peak times'? You might find that things pick up a bit for you then? Sorry if you've already tried that:o |
tweeking!!! Not sure if this is the right place to post this but was reading alot of settings and done some tweeking..I am getting 30+kb/s for my d/ls and got a cable modem that is a little faster but was wondering if i could get up a little more?any help will be appreciated..:shoot: |
Do a speed test http://www.speedtest.net/ Now have a look at the first few posts in this thread...there are tips for setting up LW for best performance;) Configuring LW for best performance |
Problem Solved :) This is what I did, and I have no idea how or why it worked, but it did. I thought it might have been my SpySweeper program, but it wasn't, since I uninstalled it, and I still had the same probs, so I reinstalled it. Then I installed Window Washer, also by Webroot to clean up all the nasties on my computer. I also made sure that LimeWire was allowed "full access" with my Mcafee Firewall, which I was courtesy of Comcast, then I defraged my computer, and then the next thing you know I have been downloading ever since! I have no idea what was up?? Maybe I just had too much junk accumulated on my computer, not enough elbow room for the files to download, or what the problem was, but I have been happily downloading and uploading ever since I cleaned up everything all week. Which is a bee-you-ti-ful thing, because I am in Boulder, Colorado, and I don't know if you have heard about our devastating blizzards here, but I have been housebound with nothing much to do BUT stay at home and play with my computer!! So, that is my suggestion to everyone - make absolutely sure you have ZERO SPAM, and that your firewalls know that LimeWire is A-OK, defrag, defrag, defrag. Oh, and one *very* important thing - Prior to making any major changes. Please, Please, Please always remember and don't ever forget to Create a System Restore Point before AND after making any major changes to your computer!! I am SO thrilled that I finally figured this out, and I hope that this works for you, too!! Happy New Year, and Happy Downloading :) |
