problem playing movies

I have looked in FAQ and the forum for help with the problem I'm having and did not find anything so if this is a repeat I'm sorry. I can download movies but I am unable to play them I get a message that says the player does not support the file type and I may not have the proper decoder(something close to that I haven't been able to download any movies lately so I can't remember the specific wording). Please any suggestions would be much appriciated.

1. You can find out what specific codec you need (COmpresses and DECompresses your video) using G-spot

2. You can download a codec pack (try K-lite)

3. You can download VLC (or another) player that will play most movies

Here's a link!

Need help playing videos?

Hope this helps

problem playing movies

Hi
I dont know if this will help you but i play movies ect on the free Divx player you can download it on the web.

hope that helps :)

Yes, Divx players come complete with codecs on the install, but I think the problem here is angel rain has WMP as his default player, also its worth downloading the updated WMP which also comes with some installed codecs. If you download the new WMP do it BEFORE you download Divx then try to open and play your videos

Most movies you download are either .avi or .mpeg. Some DVD players will play these files as they are. Check the specs on your player. Most people, myself included, like to convert the files to DVD format for one reason or another. You should really take a look at some video forums...there are guides that you can follow. There are a million different programs that will convert to DVD format. The best ones (that I have experience with) are

Tsunami MPEG Encoder (TMPGEnc) Plus 2.5
Cinema Craft Encoder (CCE) Basic

These encoders take some practice, but give excellent results. Both are around $50 or less.

If you want an easy to use encoder, I would suggest WinAVI (around $30), although I have heard good things about ConvertXtoDVD (I've never used it, though).

Good Luck

P.S. Do yourself a favor and spend some time doing research...you will probably run into problems (I did!)...and there are many different opinions out there!
