Multiple Uploads -same IP

I have asked this before, but no real light shone on it, does anyone else have this problem? I often notice multiple attempts to upload the same file from the same address, is this a function of a download accelerator? that three( I have my upload slots set to three) requests for the same file register in my uploads window???? how can i stop this? is there a trick that some people know?

N2, your not the only one... this happens... [my guess would be..] when some user tries to download two or more of the same file in hope that one will download faster than the other, sound quality will be better, or some other reason...

This might be due to the variation between files....

Vicarious,thanks for reply,
Weird isn't it ! I can't download the same file more than once, i.e. if you click on the same file that you are already downloading, you can't,I suppose you can find the file on another host and that doesn't make sense, so how is this possible?

vicarious February 5th, 2007 12:06 PM

... not exactly sure..

For example:
I download a file that's 2mb & another that is 4mb...
After you finish downloading, you will see (at search) that you downloaded all these files that arent the same file size or length. [2.5mb, 3mb,...]

I noticed this when I went back to download a different file, the original length was about 4:25 min., but I had alleged downloaded one that was 3:30...
This may be due to fragments.

Then again, this is my hypothesis...

I bet that if you go back and search any files you've already downloaded (such as music)... you'll see this...

Yes, I understand that bit, ie you can download different file sizes for the same title, but what i meant was,the file I have for example, is one file, one size, say a movie, and i have 10 available slots of which i have allocated three per person, how can 1 person make three or more upload slots for the same file? ie multiple requests for the same file?????????? at the same time?????/
LWire allows 10 upload places, three people can take up 9 places for 1 movie,VERY GREEDY, not allowing others a fair bite of the cake is it? Do download accelerators make multiple requests i wonder? how can I stop this?
without constantly monitoring the upload window?
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks vicarious for input so far.
Yours still puzzled,

Newbee2
Im using 4.12.3 pro, and there is an option to change the behaviar of allowing
more than one download, its only changable during setup,
Not sure what version it first began. Looks like its being abused. when I see
People Doing this I give them a chance, maybe accident ,so I kill the least
complete download, If it comes up agin, They Are Added To My Banned list
Hope this helps you two. :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:
Peace.

Many Thanks mickjapa, for some light on this murky topic,I've been puzzling about this for awhile,I've been doing the same, killing the least complete download, because i wasnt sure what was going on, thanks for advice, I will now BAN these offenders, I wasnt sure whether others had this problem, how common it is, and what caused it. now I know, BEWARE GREEDY ONES !!
 :yikes:

mickjapa108 February 10th, 2007 10:40 AM

Hi newbee2.
Can I just add, that my banned list is deleted at the end of each session in L/W ,someone els may have those IP addresses tomorrow and I would have
narrowed my search resolts as well as being un fair .so I make sure I clear it at the end of each day.
Peace.

Neebee2

You and mickjapa108 have had a good discussion but it is somewhat disrespectful to try and BUMP an answer out of him. Remember, like you everybody in this forum is a volunteer and have other things in our lives we have to do. And also things will run a lot smoother and less open to misunderstandings if we regulars treat each other with courtesy and respect.

ukbobby, I can assure you that disrespect was the last thing on my mind, I'm usually very polite ! I was advised elsewhere on this forum to bump if time passed and nothing happened, The reason for this is, i've asked this question in many ways over a period of weeks and apart from vicarious have never had an answer to it, so i was DELIGHTED (As was the castrated gloworm) to recieve a proper answer,if I have offended anyone, I apologise, especially to mickjapa, who is the first to answer my original enquiry. I've been using LWire for over a year now, and iv'e noticed this 'Multiple request' thing getting more and more common, and yet so far no one has reported it recently, perehaps I ought to keep my mouth and ideas to myself then? I agree this would have been rude, nay, churlish, if I did it a lot, or if i was pestering mickjapa for an answer, NEITHER was the case ukbobby ! Honest !
Sorry if iv'e transcended, or transgressed any spoken or unspoken rules,
until now I've been really helped by people on this forum, for all sorts of problems.
Newbee2
PS Ukbobby. have I said something somewhere that has upset you? if so apologies.and yes I agree with all that youve said, just didn't equate it with my behaviour, this time
PPS I didn't know WHO I was bumping, I thought 'Bumping' just put you higher up again.and if original enquiry was missed, someone may spot it? I certainly didn't bump AFTER an answer ! that would be very rude !

Hey you guys, Pranaams:Smilywais:
I'm sorry N.2, for not getting to your post sooner, Ive had a root-kit problem n
needed to format 3, 250 G.B drives twice, then reinstall, then on top of that
the day I finally got fired up, (LOL) the forums were down :w00t:
Looking back over the thread, I put the row of wagging fingers on the wrong
line, should have been on the line above, pointing to the offenders that the
subject was about.
The word (bump) as title, was just a red rag n was bound to provoke a response. Sometimes there may seem good reason, n at times there is, but
If others are lead to think its ok to bump, before long we have caos, n none
of us, as we all appreciate, want this.
So we need to thank UK bob for his diligence in making the point clear for all
of us, Thanks Bob.

P.S.. Luv ya Sig N2 ,we should have a competition for the best Signature
They oftern make me smile.
Peace.

newbee2 February 11th, 2007 06:59 AM

Thanks mickjapa and ukbobby for clearing this up, oops ! as above apologies, will not do it again!and nor the multiple uploaders!
