Default Download speed help

I have gone through these threads and tried almost everything listed but my download speed is really slow, ive done the portforwording on my router and I am not firewalled. My internet service provider is blueyonder, I have the blueyonder elite 10mb, windows xp sp2, 512ram. Like I say ive tried most of the things people have said but my speeds are very very slow. I paid for this limewire pro 4 days ago.
Any help would be appreciated. cos at the moment I feel ive wasted my money.

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) xp home sp2
2. What firewalls you have? norton
3. How much ram? 512
4. Hard Disk space available? 65.23 (left out of 80gb)
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? netgear router
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? home
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) 4..12.11 pro, java 6
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? blueyonder
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? your test has worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. no
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. first time
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? no

Try downloading a file from here & see what speed you get
http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml

If those files download very slowly then your ISP might be using traffic shaping measures.
I can't find anything to say that Blueyonder are shaping but...they're part of Telewest, which is part of NTL & this article suggests NTL have begun shaping during peak time (confused yet?)

Try changing ports. Within LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049 (or another between 49152 - 65535). You'll also need to change the port forwarded thru your router and the number in the box next to 'manual port forward' option on that same LW page. All numbers MUST be the same

Have you tried downloading at different times of day/night?

That's great

Do a speed test & find out your actual download & upload speeds
http://www.speedtest.net/

Here's a guide to speed settings

And this is a good guide for setting up your LW (the first few posts by murasame)

Divide your speed in kb/s by 8 to get KB/s, take off say 15% for overheads...theoretically a download speed of about 255 KB/s. But it's not as simple as that. Your download speed depends upon your speed & also the upload speed of the host(s) you're downloading from, how many hosts you're downloading from, how many upload slots they have open etc etc.

Then there are people whose ISPs throttle their bandwidth...so these people may never see a fast download.

Considering that you've told us nothing except your speed test result, it's a bit hard to guess whether the speeds you're seeing are reasonable for you or not.
