I am completely at my wit's end! I am spending entirely too much time on this. I'm sure there is a simple solution.
I have been using Limewire for 2 years now. Never a problem with downloads or uploads. Friends could connect directly to upload my files. Suddenly, I noticed there were no more uploads! Rarely even an attempt. When there is an attempt to upload, the monitor shows TRANSFER INTERRUPTED. I tried changing the IP via ipconfig/release, left it disconnected overnight, and then ipconfig/renew. It did not change the IP. I'm not even sure if this is the problem anyway. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling Limewire. I tried changing number of slots, but I never had a problem uploading with the original settings before so this probably isn't the cause either. Limewire shows a different IP address than I used to have a few months ago. How do I change it back? When I go to myidplease.com and whatismyip.com it shows a different IP than what Limewire says I have. I am running Windows XP. I have internet via cable through Comcast. This is very frustrating and I would certainly appreciate your expertise. Thank you for your help! |

Comcast may be monitoring UL bandwidth and blocking UL in your area. I use Comcast and they started blocking UL on LimeWire a couple of months ago here. They haven't started blocking other P2P apps but they did LimeWire. I found if I used different ports people could UL from me for a while but eventually they would block that port also. So now every time I use LW I have to find a port they are not blocking in order to share. But they have never blocked incoming ports.

Thanks for replying, Grandpa....with a name like that, I'm sure you know what you are talking about!
ok, now so how do I go about finding a new port? and how do I change it? Would I go to Tools/Advanced/Firewall Config/Manual Port forward and enter the port number? where do I get a port number? |

Just enter any # between 40,000 and 65,000 but usually it doesn't take long for them to block a port

I changed the port number and am having the same problem...hardly any upload attempts and all interrupted
if it is comcast doing this, do they have to unblock the uploads if I request it? what now???

just to update....
Now I don't even have any attempts to upload from me....I can leave the computer on for hours and never get one try, let alone a transfer interrupt. I called Comcast yesterday and they said they change the IP every 10 days for security reasons. According to them, the next one will be 3/7. We'll see if this makes any difference. I'll keep you posted if anyone cares. |
