Downloaded songs sound like hampsters on crack

Recently all the songs I have downloaded into my personal folder on my computer are ruined when I play them back. The songs are all about 30 seconds and sound like mice or hampsters singing. I have tried to adjust the play speed and that doesn't do anything. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Bo

Thanks...I had read through those posts and others, but I am not sure that my sound card is the problem. First it only happens to some songs not all and second it didn't matter what computer I was using (both are less than 2 months old). I have noticed that the "chipmunk" speed continues to happen no matter how many different files of that same song I download. And also it is only happening with mp3's when playing back with WMP.

Try changing to itunes, it's alot better than WMP...WMP is a very fussy player...:rolleyes_2:

When opened with Nero Showtime it does not happen...but that doesn't mean it is fixed just avoided :\ Thought I would post since I have read so many similar problems.

I will download iTunes and try it...THanks,

Maybe WMP just needs some more codecs....The reason I suggested itunes is that it will play things that WMP says no to...

Have a look at this thread, it has a choice of different codecs...
CODECs list

If you have XP try this pack it's very good...
