I can assure you, LW has nothing done to throttle whatsoever.

Try and download a magnet file from here and see what speed you get for it, then post the result as well: http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml

Besides, let us know which client version of LW you use?!

Ever considered that your ISP has started to shape your bandwidth usage at certain ports (i.e. LW port )?

Because that's what it sounds for me. Who is your ISP?

I have a local isp that I have used with great results for nine years. Things were going great until a month or so ago when suddenly things went to crap. At first it was just a case of downloads not starting when there were more than 10 sources. As long as I picked a file with less than 10 sources I would zip along at my usual 45-65KB/s but if the file had more than 10 sources there was a 99% chance that the file would just sit there "connecting" until I finally canceled it from frustration. Now I don't seem to have that issue but now if I get 15-20 KB/s on downloads I feel lucky but generally I get around 10KB/s which is nothing like what it was and has been for several years for me. My son plays online games with no issues, I can download files from anywhere else on the net with no problem so to me I don't see how it's an isp issue. That's why I finally posted a thread after searching through other threads in hopes of finding some clue as to what my limewire was doing.

Besides that I still don't know who your ISP is, the problem of files with many hosts is well know. Those are usually faked files hosted by those who want discourage P2P users from using P2P programs.
Recognizing fake files:

That your son can play games with no problem is easily explained. Playing online games and using a P2P program are two completely different issues.

But since you mentioned that you have the 4.12 version of LW, the preference folder would not be " .limewire ", because that was the one from the previous versions (4.10., etc).
Read here on how to delete the folder of your version (Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire)
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420
Afterwards reboot your computer.

Another point of interest would be whether you have installed any new security software (or any update of your present one) prior to the drop of speed.

In general, by determining what is NOT the cause of your problem, we can get closer to what actually causes your issue.
From my experience, a sudden drop of speed without any prior changes to your computer system usually leaves only the ISP as culprit; believe it or not!

You might want to try to change the listening port. Try one in the range of 49152 - 65535 (eg 64049). Although if this is an ISP issue, there's no guarantee that changing ports will help.

Cheers
