Default Limewire Pro Download Speeds

Hi, im new to these forums, anyway:
I have Limewire Pro and had the free version of limewire before the Pro version and both of them have had extremely slow download speeds. I have had a look round these forums to see what i need to include to help you people.
I dont know if this'll make a difference but i live in the Isle Of Man if that means anything to the download speeds.

On the speed test i got results of 1841 kb/s download and 239 kb/s upload, although this was done on the Ireland server as there isn't one in the Isle Of Man and i have set my download speeds on Limewire to 33.25 KB/s for downloading and 21 KB/s on uploading (Not at all sure if i've done thsi correct though). I also have the Java Version 6 Update 1.

1. OS version?: Windows XP Home Edition
2. What firewalls you have? Windows Firewall
3. How much ram? 1.00GB
4. Hard Disk space available? Free Space 50.8GB
5. Connection type? Broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Ozenda Wireless Router
Number: AR4505GW
7. Where are you trying to connect from? Home
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? Limewire 4.12.6 Pro, Java 1.6.0_01
9. Who is your ISP provider? Manxnet
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? says you're test worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? Yes, this laptop, another laptop and a desktop PC all share this connection
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.? Had this problem always with limewire
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?yes

Cheers for you're help

Looks like your router comes with an integrated firewall...

I've had a look in that thread now and it does seem that my router blocks P2P, but i couldn't see if there is a way to unblock it. Does anyone know if there is?

Well,. try to set up a static IP and then make port forwarding.
You can read here about how to do this:

Alex if you can? Take the router right out of the loop for a bit of time.

Before going thru the work of making a static IP and port forwarding only to find out it cures nothing.

I just today took my router out of the loop. Cycled my modem.Boot up, launch LW and results are exactly the same.

What this told me was the poor performance or connection problems had zero to do with my router.

Hope this helps?

@alexwilson
Try and download a magnet file from here and see what speed you get for it, then post the result as well:http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml

The low speed could be connected to many reasons, such as your own internet speed, the speed of the file host, the time of the day, how many hosts of the exact same file. There is know simple answer to this question.

Post back with the result and we go from there.

@rocknrollmachine

An impressive expertise that you give with your statement. One wonders why you have signed up here, since you seem to understand the whole P2P issue including the clients like a professional !!.....Never Mind though !
