LimeWire won't download/downloads poorly

LimeWire can search but when I try to download it either says 'connecting' or gives me <1kbps speeds. This isn't reflected in HTTP and applies for most files. Shareaza can't connect to Gnutella1, either.

1. OS version? XP Home SP2
2. What firewalls you have? NAT, SP2 firewall
3. How much ram? 1.5GB DDR400
4. Hard Disk space available? >100GB
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) DSK
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Netgear DG834G
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 4.12.11 Pro; Java 1.5.0_06
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Eclipse Internet
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Your test worked!!
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. I have eMule, uTorrent, Sharaza etc but not running atm
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. The latter
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Nope.

Please help!

The files that sit connecting for ages & then get stuck needing more sources are fakes;)
Fake files showing up in search results

Your ISP is throttling p2p, that explains your slow download speeds.

You could try changing ports, to be honest I don't know that it will help but it's an easy thing to try. In LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049, or something in the range of 49152 - 65535. Any ports forwarded through a router will also have to change!

Your Java's very old, updating that wouldn't hurt. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your old Java version before you install the new one:)
