one in fifty files uploaded, rest are transfer interrupted?

hi, I have been using lw for about 3 months and I love it! I have alot of files I would like to share but most uploads say transfer interrupted. Evry once in awhile someone will get a whole file, but not usually. I have tried everything- firewall, port changing, setting my music folder to shared, turning upload spped up all the way and dl speed down all the way. Folders are all set to share. I can DL till the cows come home. I have a Broadband connection thru comcast. home computer, no router to configure...
Its become a little challenge in itself. some nights i lay in bed before i fall asleep and think of what i could be doing wrong. oh and i installed frostwire aND IT WAS ABLE TO UPLOAD LIKE MAD. Checked port number and appiled it to lw. thought this was the answer for sure but no. now neither uploads. ive reinstalled everything a million times and i'm ready to just give up. any suggestions? thanks for taking the time to read this.
Anne

Comcast might be limiting your uploads? Check out what Grandpa says here.

ok. some files are able to upload varying percentages, as well as the occasional complete download. so it's not completely blocked. as far as firewalls, i have become ultrapeer on several occasions which i understand isn't possible with a firewall, but i have a windows xp firewall and limewire is on the list of exceptions. could it still be a comcast thing , do you think?

You could try experimenting and see if trying the Beta version makes a difference or you could also try deleting your preference folder...
Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should

Hi Annesprad.
During Uploading, many Ups, may become transfer interrupted this is not such a
problem if you have (Clear uploads Auto) ticked, & (allow partial Sharing) ticked in Tools/Options/Uploads/Basic Because they auto connect again,(Well most do)
Otherwise you must manually Clear them as soon as they go transfer interrupted
to give them a chance to reconnect,
I leave the auto on, then if I want to see what is being Uploaded, I go to Library click once, then, click again on the Uploads tab at the top to bring all
uploads to the top.
left side of / are uploads, right side of / are attempts.
Hope that helps.

P.S.. If Comcast are the problem, this probably wont help you.
Peace.

thats a good idea, im going to turn off the clear uploads, and i just deleted my preferences folder and restarted lw. i'll leave it running and report back in a while just for research's sake whether anything's changed. ahh, its nice to finally come ask for help, after trying to figure this out by myself!

hmm okay wait. what is beta? isn't that just for vista? clue me in?
my music files are in my music>itune>itunes music and when it shows them in the library they are in individual folders all say 0.0 kb, but once you open the folders the songs are all there. it doesnt show hits until you open the folders to view the individual songs. there are a few thousand files and they all show up at the bottom left in the green oval. could that be part of the problem perhaps?

Grandpa April 28th, 2007 08:33 PM

Um I hope you have downloaded a few thousand files. And I hope they are not all the same size (kb). But unfortunately I have a feeling they may be (I hope Not) But if they are you have a Virus. If any of the above is true then you may want to get the trial version of AVG and do a scan with it.

Comcast is interfering with P2P Uploads

Hi Anne,

This is Comcast interfering with you.

Comcast is dropping the connection by sending a RST packet when it sees that the upload is about to begin.

Upload Connections Keep Getting Disconnected, network is otherwise okay - Official Emule Board

I confirmed this report by bypassing my router and connecting directly to the modem. The packet exchange is as described above.

If I use a VPN, then I upload normally and get a better mix of Gnutella sources in my Shareaza client (Gnutella, G2, ED2K).

Comcast support seems totally unaware of this. It is very subtle, and I've investigated and systematically ruled out everything from Shareaza, to my network stack, my router, PeerGuardian, and Windows Firewall.

I even saw a Comcast-specific thread on this last fall, but I didn't believe it because it just wasn't happening to me.

Comcast Throttling? - DSLReports.com

This affects BitTorrent, Gnutella, and ED2K uploads, and the ISP Interference happens right after a range is requested.

This doesn't seem to affect BitTorrent when I use Protocol Obfuscation on another client.

Hi funchords
Thank you very much for the informative post

"If I use a VPN," ? Dose that mean variable port number ?
Peace.

nice

heres my problem with that.
a) i browsed a few comcast hosts and dl'd from them, one song @ 200-something k, which is fast for me.
b) I just replaced my version with beta and not ONE transfer interrupted, 8 songs in a row. I think I've solved this problem finally!!

annesprad May 5th, 2007 05:53 PM

well, it's not working again. Looks like I kind of jumped the gun on that one...

mickjapa108 May 6th, 2007 01:20 AM

Ann Hi.

Reading back, You say you set the same port Nos in L/W as was in FrostWire
That may cause conflict. Make them different.
Change L/Ws ports to something between 45000 & 65000 use manual portfaward & make the listening port the same number
Then restart L/W.

P.S.. When I use multipull P2P programs, I copy the installers to a folder, then when installing another,I first do a search on my computer
for all the files (apart from my installer folder) by other P2P programs and Delete them all.
That makes for less chance of conflict. It takes 2 mins to reinstall them when I want them.

PP.S. Did you follow the links Funchords Posted, ?
Peace.
