Unhappy I can't download anything anymore :(

I have no clue what's happened. I haven't changed any of my settings ... I don't know if it's one of my spyware programs or if it's something simple. All I know is I need help and I'm begging at this point. If there's someone out there that can help I would really appreciate it.

1. OS version? WIN XP SP2
2. What firewalls you have?Win Defender , I have AVG and Spyware Detector I Don’t know if they could all of a sudden start blocking or have any blocking properties to them in the 1st place
3. How much ram? 1.6GHz 504 MB RAM
4. Hard Disk space available? 13 GB listed as free on the defrag screen (I didn’t know where to look and I’m not good at this)
5. Connection type? ISD
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? I don’t know EMBARQ sent it to me, I’m using a LINKSYS Router for wifi also
7. Where are you trying to connect from? home

8. What version of Lime Wire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. LW 4.12.3 JAVA 1.6.0_01
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Earthlink
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
Your test worked!!
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? no
12. Is this a 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Not new, I have been a user for about 6 months. On or about May 18th it just quit working.

13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? yes

As for # 14 I’m so sorry I can’t understand it. I went to sticky’s link and read it, followed it as much as I could.

They… LINKSYS and Sprint… had me change so many things when I did the setup for security about a year ago I don’t remember how to get back into it and I honestly am afraid to mess with it.

Thanks for any and all your help ...I'm out for the evening I'll ck back after graduation

I too, am also experiencing this problem. Everything was working well recently, I have had no major changes to my CPU. I have uninstalled LimeWire cleaned and erased all the registery entries left behind after uninstallation and reinstalled the program. Unfortunately I am still experiencing the same problem, that is LimeWire's inability to download when I hover the cursor over a chosen subject. I am fairly certain that the Anti Virus and Anti Spyware programs that I operate with in conjunction with the firewall systems are not preventing the ability of LimeWire from downloading.

Any constructive ideas and feedback is welcomed. Short of having to to do a System Restore, this would be my last resort.

Cheers

NB: My System Hardware I dont think is an issue. However, I would like to ask, if any users here that work with LimeWire are experiencing similar problems i.e.: downloading. If you have no problems, than may I ask what version of LimeWire are you using, and it would be helpful if could let me know with what Windows system i.e: Vista etc etc you are working with.

Cheers

Please ignore this request, I have been able to resolve the issue, by shear chance I reconfigured the settings in the Filter option located in the task bar of the LimeWire Program. In the midst of reconfiguring this section, it is possible, that the program after installation may have had the default settings offskew slightly. I would suggest that anyone experiencing a similar issue like I have had, go to this section, the other option may have been when instead of choosing the default setting for your completed downloads I have chosen to pre determine the download site this could also have been a factor, although I am not quite too sure.
Experiment with these sections, as these are only areas that I worked on before I was able to effect any download.

My download now works perfectly.

Cheers

FYI - For your information.

rasmita Hi.
Try downloading & using the VLC media player (Its Free) & recommended by us here
at the limewire forums. VLC player has most all of the codec's built into the player &
plays above average quality for music & excellent quality for video files, (It play's most everything)

If you wish, VLC player can be set as the default player for your computer, to do this
In Limewire Library, highlight a file mp3, avi or whatever you wish then click on
explore, in the bottom left corner.
This will take you to the shared folder outside of Limewire, right click on a file,
choose, open with, highlight VLC player, then tick the box to always use this program
to open this type of file. Reapete this action to include all the file types you wish VLC
to be the defult player.
USE THIS LINK IN BLUE (download from the nearest mirror site to you)

Your servant.
Peace.
