My mp3 files keep changing to exe. zip files!

Can anybody help. Limewire was working fine and I was sharing about 600+ files. Then one day I turned it on to find all my mp3 files had been changed to zip files with a exe. at the end of them. When trying to "unpack" zipped files, a message appears "file corrupt from transfer.
I have deleted all of them and reinstalled limewire but every time I close limewire down it changes all the files that I re-loaded back again to these exe.zipped files!
:yikes:

Sounds like a virus or worm, We are on to this one

Check your system using any of these programs (I reckon using all of them):
This one first it has the fix you need, Update before scanning.
http://www.grisoft.com(good free AVG)

Select Your Product - Home - Lavasoft)

http://www.ewido.com(>>now called AVG Anti Spyware<< free 30 day trial -the best in my opinion)

http://www.ccleaner.com/download/(free)

Spybot - Search & Destroy (FREE)

The only AV that I know of to get rid of this virus is AVG, it is free...So if you aren't running that AV the best thing to do is disable the one you have and download AVG, scan your computer, get rid of the virus and then you can unistall AVG and make your normal AV active again...

AVG download.....AVG Free Advisor: AVG Anti-Virus Free

I used Windows, and thus used AVG, now i use Ubuntu Feisty, but i can still say AVG delivers the best protection for free

My files finally sorted!!

Thanks mickjapa108, Dark guy and wondering why.
Norton antivirus had been giving me clean scans so I tried "Spybot search and destroy" and then uploaded AVG free. The first gave me 22 adware warnings and AVG picked up 2 trojans and over 1000 files infected with worms like dllhost exe.
After deleting them and reloading my shared files the problem has been resolved. Makes you wonder why we subscribe to norton dunnit?
Thanks again to all.:xirokrotima:

I let my Norton go onec it was expired and run AVG free now, it does it's job...I've never had a virus (touch wood)...:D

Glad you have it all sorted now...

Zipped files

The same thing happended to me and I used AVG and it removed what Norton did not pick up. I did lose my files however. I would like to know can I keep Norton enabled and have AVG running as well?

thanks........

I Have kept Norton running as usual but scan more regularly with AVG as it is quicker and picks more up. Just a pain that you have to download all the corrupt files again!

It's not wise to have two AV's on your computer at once they will clash and end up doing more harm than good...
If you are happy with Norton keep it and maybe once a fortnight disable it and re-download AVG and give it a run...;)
