This is really starting to **** me off. (no search results)

First off, I would like to apologize for the way I speak in this post. I'm just really frustrated by this whole thing.

Why in all the seven hells won't Limewire find any results when I search? It's not blocked by a firewall, it's got full connection bars, but no matter what I search for (even porn, FTW?!), I don't get any results.

This has been going on for months now. No one ever answered my post originally, and apparently there are no officials who:

A. Come here to actually help people.

and

B. Know what the crap to actually do, and are just afraid to admit they don't know.

So yeah, I'm just a bit annoyed. I've tried what my friends told me to do. I uninstalled limewire, then downloaded it again, but the problem is still there. I know I'm not the only one who has this problem, but what do I do to fix the blasted thing?! :bangh::bangh::bangh: <--me

Any and all help will be severely appreciated. Music is part of my life, and it's hard to go without it.

Also, I tried Bearshare, but it was only a frigging trial, and you can't get programs off of it. But I have also heard of people who ARE downloading actual programs off of Bearshare. Which seems odd to me, as you can only search for audio and video. There is also Bearflix, but that doesn't interest me. I don't need videos of stuff.

1. System details - help us to help you (click on blue link)

2. Try downloadng a magnet link from the following link & describe to us what happens: + MagnetMix.com +: The Source for Good Content

Sounds to me like ISP intervention. That's usually the cause of zero search results if properly connected.

Also under LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Searching are options. Check each one. Make sure you have at least one search option, set to all types of connections & qualities.
Under Tools>Options>Filters make sure Content is not ticked, Junk is set to about 1/3.

Furlock Hi.
If programs are the only thing your after, try torrents.

It could be the License warning thing.
Just have a look,
Go, Tools/Options/Searching/Basic, it says, "Show License Warning"
Untick the box if you don't want to filter out copyright Files in search results.

This option is enabled at setup, The choice is your decision.
Do a test to see if search results improve.
You can reverse this change at any time, the choice is yours.

P.S. A file that requires a license, is protected so if you obtain a license, that file cannot be shared.
So don't put those files in your shared folder.
That will cause more frustration to others as they play only silence.

USE BITZI LOOKUP
when you see a file in search eg.. avi, mpg, mpeg you want
Right click/advanced/look up file with BITZI, if its not reported on leave it, till it is,
Now music, is not so easy,
The Newer they are, the more careful you must be.
The Spam company's are putting swarms of fakes on the network,
Take note of size, Songs less than 2000kb with 128kb bit rate, must be less than two minuets.
THINK!!, how long is the song I'm looking for ?
so what size SHOULD it be,
If it dos'nt have a bitrate! LEAVE it,
Scan every File before OPENING them
Don't D/L exe, rar, zip,or wma files. I am expert at using LimeWire & I don't touch them they are 99.9% viruses.
We only use these for testing anti virus programs.

P.S.. Try typing only the key words of the file, & leave out the small words (small words trigger SPAM results)

P.P.S.. Add these words to your word filter .exe .rar .zip .wma That will stop 50% of crap search results, Don't forget to apply.

To find your Word filter, Go Tools/Options/Filters/Keywords, now type word & click add, then apply.
Peace

Try doing this...
Go to your connections Tab in limewire, if it's not showing up go to Veiw > Show/Hide and make sure the connection tab has a tick next to it...
Then click on the Hosts and remove them and let Limewire search for some more...
It is also wise to go to your Filters, to find this go to Tools > Options > Filters and select the Host Filter and add these IP's into it and select apply...

Do I add them, or block them?

wondering why June 13th, 2007 02:34 AM

Add them to the list you want to filter out that way you won't be able to connect to them again...
Then shut limewire down and re-start it again...

Furlock June 13th, 2007 02:34 AM

Ah, thank you. I'll try that now.

Furlock June 13th, 2007 02:42 AM

Nope. That didn't do anything. I think what Lord of the Rings said is right. I had dial-up before, and this didn't happen. I've got cable now, and this gives me a lot of trouble. But I might be thinking of something else. I appreciate the help you guys have been. Any idea on what to do if it is ISP intervention?

wondering why June 13th, 2007 02:46 AM

Who is your ISP and where are you from ??

Ronn June 13th, 2007 04:53 AM

Have you tried downloading Frostwire 4.3?
