Files disappear from d/l queue

well, I'm using limewire from quite some time. Recently, I installed it again and it was running fine for the past 2+ weeks but now its giving me a strange error.

The files which are in the download queue, the ones that I'm downloading disappear  but they are in the temporary folder so I can queue them back.

But its very irritating when I wake up in the morning seeing there ain't no download left, being happy :D that all downloads are done but when I see in the folder there ain't anything. WTF  :bangh:

So, if anyone knows why this "magic" is happening, please do let me know the solution :)

Another problem is that limewire disconnects most of the times and doesn't connect by itself so i've to manually connect it.

1. OS version - Windows XP
2. What firewalls you have - Sygate Personal Firewall Pro
3. How much ram - 384MB
4. Hard Disk space available - 10GB for downloads from Limewire
5. Connection type - Cable
7. Where are you trying to connect from - Home
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have?
EDIT:
Limewire 4.12.11
Java 1.5.0_11

10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/
It says "Your test worked!"

11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
No, I'm not sharing this PC with others and I only use limewire.

12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
New problem with an experienced user.

13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?
Yes

15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)?
NOD32 anti-virus

16. What country are you living in?
Pakistan

kid_smerker June 17th, 2007 07:44 AM

It sounds like possibly a corrupt java download, &/or L/W Prefs folder prob
First! close L/W completely, then Go,
START/My Computer/local disc C:/ Documents & settings/Your User Name/Application Data
Now Delete the LimeWire Folder.
If you cant find Application Data Folder,GO to Tools/folder Options,& tick, show hidden folders,
You can put the setting back afterwards to protect your computer.

note: You will have to reset your, Tools/options in L/W Later.

Now! Go to,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Now! Use this Blue Link to get "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 12" Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one, 4th one down.
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.

Follow these instructions exactly.

Don't forget to reset your options in L/W, License warning n stuff.
Go to Tools > Options > Searching > License warning and make sure the setting is how you want it and then select apply....
Your feedback will help others
Any Problems Shout.
Peace.

Thanks for the help. I just need one for info. Will it by any chance affect the files that I'm currently downloading?

mickjapa108 June 18th, 2007 07:22 AM

"Will it by any chance affect the files that I'm currently downloading ?" Yes!

are you saying you don't want my help ?

sinnersaint June 18th, 2007 07:27 AM

Man, I meant, will the files be affected in the sense that will they be deleted or something. Just confirming because there are a few files in the d/l queue done 50+%. So I don't want to start them from scratch as I've a slow connection.

And I'm not saying that I don't need your help.

mickjapa108 June 18th, 2007 07:39 AM

Im not sure they will remain in tact when reinstalling.
You could copy the files in the incomplete folder + DAT & BAK to desktop, reinstall L/W then paste them back in the incomplete folder.

sinnersaint June 18th, 2007 07:39 AM

thanks :)

sinnersaint June 18th, 2007 12:17 PM

still the same problem :( :shoot::bangh:

mickjapa108 June 19th, 2007 03:57 AM

Ok, the files may be fake to start with.

Is L/W running ok apart from incomplete's ?

Feedback please, give me something to work with
Peace.

13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?
Yes

(1) you have a firewall issue. Did you disable XP's firewall & configure Sygate firewall to allow LW full access?
(2) check the number of days you have set to keep incomplete files. (if it's set to 7 or less then you will lose your downloads.)
(3) If LW is not shut down properly then downloads will refuse to reload when restarting LW.
(4) Reinstalling will not affect the downloads. All information about downloads is stored within the incomplete folder. Only if you made the LW program folder the download folder would you have problems.
* you didn't tell us about connection device details.

Files are ok! I've previewed them and I downloaded a few files before too. Its just recently that I'm experiencing the problem I mentioned with limewire.

1- Xp's firewall is disabled. Full access to limewire in Sygate
2- It's 100 days
3- I always shutdown it properly but even then I'm having this problem

*It's because I'm on a lan/cable and I don't know which connection device like routers or stuff my cable operator is using.

sinnersaint June 19th, 2007 10:51 AM

Another problem is that now when I close limeweird and start it, all files are at 0%. And some of them go to their original state, i.e. if I had d/l them 70% they go to 70% quickly.

BUT some files are starting from scratch. I was d/l this ****** movies and it was 99% done and its started from scratch

LW can often take a long time to shutdown. Make sure you give it plenty of time. To be sure, alt-control-del and make sure LW is not listed. If it is, then for some reason LW is taking longer than normal to shutdown & this is probably the reason behind your problem (at least one of them.) It sounds to me like you have one of those systems that might be highly sensitive to particular version of either or both LW & Java. So what to do? Try different version of Java or LW or both.
