I get a full connection, but my download speed is still 0 I usually get 5 bars for connections, but nothing downloads. Even if the status is "downloading," the speed is still 0. How do I fix this? |
Can you supply these details please... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-you-post.html |
It used to work fine, but I installed a newer version, and from then, it doesn't work I have Windows XP, and I use Windows Firewall, but I tried turning it off too, but it still didnt work. I have 51 GB, and I use Verizon, and Modem is Westell and router is Linksys wireless broadband router. I use Limewire from home, and the version is the latest one, 4.12.15 I think. The test page says that it worked. I do not share the connection. I've been using it for a long time, and this is the first time it happened. And there is a brickwall in front of the blue globe. I used to use Norton, but it's always turned off now, although I still have it on my computer. I live in California, USA. |
Ok a couple of things to try...Do one at a time.. Try deleting your preference folder... Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version.... Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 If those fixes fail could you tell me the model numbers for your modem and router, you will find the info underneath them...;) |
I deleted .limewire, and it started downloading. However, when i restared Limewire, it ran, but a window poped up with a title "Internal Error," without any information. |
Try going back and deleting the LimeWire folder located C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\LimeWire then go to control panel > folder options >click on the View tab > put a dot in the circle nex to 'show hidden files & folders> apply > ok. As some people have a folder that is called .limewire from the older version as well as the LimeWire folder which is from the newer versions.... |
I don't have any folder named Application Data. And the only folder named Limewire is in Program Files and that one is where Limewire is installed in. |
Oh ok I found it, and now it's working Thank you |
It was working for a second, but I got an Internal Error window again, but this time I was able to look at the review. LimeWire version 4.12.14 Pro Java version 1.5.0_06 from Sun Microsystems Inc. Didn't you go and uninstall all of your previous Java's like I suggested in an earlier post, you are still running Java 1.5.0_06 ... Try installing the Java I told you to install... |
I get the same problem as he does. I get full bars, and full conection, and there is no fire wall. But when I go to download things, all i ever get is 1 host and the downloads never get any download speed, the download speed is always at 0 kb/s I've tried everything that you listen above. It use to work fine, but when I got the newer version it stoped working. |
You sound like you have hooked up to some bodgy Ultrapeers, try this... Go to your connections Tab in limewire, if it's not showing up go to Veiw > Show/Hide and make sure the connection tab has a tick next to it... Then click on the Hosts and remove them and let Limewire search for some more... |
I did that and still have the problem, I dont know if this will help but under the conections tab I have.... 5 hosts Bandwidth - 0.000/0.0000 kb/s for all of them Status - Outgoing for all of them Protocol - Ultrapeer for all of them The bandwidth some times goes up for a couple of them to about 0.003/0.0009 kb/s I removed them like you said and let new ones come and they did the same thing |
Write down those IP numbers and add them to your Host filter, so you can get rid of them once and for all... to find this go to Tools > Options > Filters and select the Host Filter and add these IP's into it and select apply... For instance some time back this batch of IP numbers where bad... 204.11.219.225 204.11.219.226 204.11.219.227 204.11.219.229 204.11.219.231 |
Did that, and then I went to try to download a song to test to see if it worked, It got 5 hosts and was only downloading at 1 kb/s its an improvement, but only by 1 kb/s:xirokrotima: ....:mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2::shoot: p.s I didn't have this problem with a previous version of limewire i had, i think it was 4.8 |
lol, not much of one..:p Tell me who is your ISP ?? and what country are you from...;) |
Canada and i dont know who the ISP is, how do I find out, I didn't set up the internet |
nvm i know who our ISP is, its persona |
p.s. I am on wireless internet conecting to my other computer in the house, not sure if that helps you or not |
We may have to start form the beginning then... Could you supply these details please... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-you-post.html |

OK, there is nothing there that would be causing this...So I will give you a link to a thread that has had some success with some but not others...This seems to be a real problem at the moment... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-problems.html And there is also these two... i can only get one bar of connection! i can't even search! it was working fine b4 Can't Connect |
Oh the second link go past all of the posts until you reach Farj3r's... |
