my limewire songs recopy themselves!
 

Whenever I'm adding the limewire files into my itunes library the first two files go in fine. After the first two songs every song I put in recopies the songs before it that I added, along with the song I'm trying to add.

It's terribly inconvenient to have to delete about 10 extra copies of every song, so if anyone knows what's going on thanks in advance.

I dont know exactly whats going on but usually when I open a song in my itunes it adds to the library.
Have you been converting the files using itunes or anything? Thats how I usually end up with copy's.

It just hasn't happened to me before.

yeah, i convert it on itunes it copies all the songs i converted before it. it's really strange.

It isn't all that strange, its one of the things iTunes does to try and make life easier for us, but it makes it harder.
The good news is im going to look around in the itunes preferences and see if it can be turned off.

Alright. The good news is I know whats going on.
In itunes click edit >> preferences >> click the advanced tab >>> click the smaller general tab >>> Un-tick the box that says Copy files to itunes music folder when adding to library
But you will still get a copy when you convert the file.
